This is about where I'm at too. I would have liked to have signed SWP, but it's been going on so long I'm at the point where I don't care any more. Seems fairly clear that he's not that excited about playing for us, because if he were, then he'd have been making noises - they all do it.spikeykev wrote:Think we will get N'gog after he was left out the team, SWP don't know and don 't really care, Boyata would be excellent
Would be happy with N'Gog (one 4-0 away victory doesn't change my opinion about a full season of Davo and Klasnic up front), and Boyata would be good backup.

Tuncay ruined the SWP dream for me. Same age with Tuncay being more versatile, cheaper and just the better player overall.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
from what Ive read on the Citeh forums he would walk straight into our team, can play all across the back four at an equally high standard. Easily better than Robbo, Steinners and KnightChoppers wrote:

Boyata is a top prospect. If we get him he'll be in ahead of Steinsson IMO at right back. But will be useful for covering other areas should the need arise.
Wait and see if we get him but he would certainly help out at the back. Think he will ultimately be a CB but will learn a lot at RB!
Interesting that Nixon is saying on twitter that he wouldn't be surprised if Cahill was still here come Sept 1st! In his words, Arsenal want Jagielka, Liverpool aren't interested at present and Spurs can only offer player swaps and no cash.
Things can change I guess but the time for them to, is decreasing!

yeah fine cahill might be here sept 1, but if he doesnt extend his contract we get nothing for him,
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I don't think Cahill will be leaving personally, but we *have* to get him to pen a new contract somehow if he stays.

Maybe its due to the Mears injury but I didn't think we actively needed a defender, even if it is 'for cover' whilst Cahill was still here. Especially with Ricketts expecting to be back sooner rather than later.aussie_wanderer wrote:yeah fine cahill might be here sept 1, but if he doesnt extend his contract we get nothing for him,
Lets hope Gary scores another blinder today

Boyata is a good player, but I don't see the logic in taking him on loan if Cahill is still here. He's not really a RB (and we have two of them already) and we have three centre halves. It doesn't seem to say much for Wheater that after failing to displace Knight, we're now bringing in a 20 year old centre half to challenge him for game-time.
Saying that, it's not particularly worth getting upset about us bringing in good players, whatever the circumstances. Same goes for SWP. I'm not having that in order to prove you want to play for us, you have to rush into taking a 50% pay cut. However long it drags on for, I'd be happy to see him here.

If Cahill stays then we can play him at CB instead of Knight....that'll improve our back four !Tombwfc wrote:Boyata is a good player, but I don't see the logic in taking him on loan if Cahill is still here. Agree with that except I think Boyata will do a good job at right back ala Micah Richards, and provide crucial defensive cover in general. Will be good if we can get him as he will be a safeguard should a late bid come in for Cahill and as it stands he can compete with Knight and Steiner for a place.Tombwfc wrote:Boyata is a good player, but I don't see the logic in taking him on loan if Cahill is still here. As for SWP I agree, it's not likely we will get him but if we do then great. He's got a choice of getting his full salary at QPR or taking a drop to come here. As QPR are offering the full amount it may also mean City aren't so keen to subsidise his move here. SWP has a choice and either way you can't really blame him whatever he decides!

Just tweeted Nixon saying what's the latest news on transfers and he replied "Ngog closer. Swp still a problem. Boyata waiting on nod."

People assumed Wheater was signed to displace Knight. Whatever you think of Big Zat, Coyle obviously rates him.Peter Thompson wrote:If Cahill stays then we can play him at CB instead of Knight....that'll improve our back four !Tombwfc wrote:Boyata is a good player, but I don't see the logic in taking him on loan if Cahill is still here. On the basis that he's black and plays in defence for Manchester City? Filling in there a couple of times for the richest side in the world seems a way away from walking into our side as our first choice right back.Agree with that except I think Boyata will do a good job at right back ala Micah Richards, and provide crucial defensive cover in general. Like I said, he is a good player and I won't complain if he signs. I'm just not sure where he fits in.

Have I missed something? Have we taken Boyata on loan or something?

In a treble swoop for N'gog and SWP I presume then.
