Absolute barrow-load of chances created and not put away. Could have been a cricket score. Never mind, we're through.

Got 2/1 @ skybet on Bolton win about 2mins before Tuncay scored...so I'm happy.

Nice to hear Riley and Blakeman have good debuts. Obviously Tuncay too. Be interesting to see where he slots into the team.

hmm, macc's goal looks a bit of a mess...what was Wheater gesturing? did Bogdan stop and go or summat?

Strange game really, we were actually pretty good going forwards. But the midfield balance was not right, two attacking players in the middle did not work. Neither are very good at the defensive side of the job and often we got caught out when they both went forwards.

Knight and Wheater looked as predictably disastrous as you can imagine.

Alonso was ok till injury but still for the life of me cannot see what inspired Owen to pay money for him. Hey ho.

Petrov lively if a little frustrating at times, blake completely pointless and Eagles had a mare first half!

Riley was very very impressive. Lovely touch, pace and a final product on the end of it. Could be useful, I'd say he looks more like a right winger than a full back, not sure his defending would survive in the prem yet! But he reminds me of when Seamus Coleman broke through at Everton and played right side midfield as a previous full back! He'd have been man of the match but for .....

Tuncay who not only scored a cracking goal, and created another beautifully, ran his bloody heart out when he clearly was not fully match fit. One particular lung busting run back full length of the pitch to prevent their player going clean through when young Riley was caught up the pitch. He worked his bollocks off. And he clearly isn't a hundred percent sharp or match fit. Great quality on the ball, and when moved onto the right second half he did ever so well linking up with Riley. He will play well off Davies I think and very different to anything else we have!

Just got in, was a very weird game, but very enjoyable in an odd way. First half the centre halves did their best to do Brucie proud, Wheater was poor and Zat Knight reached a new level of abysmal. However, despite those two being a bit wank, and at one point Macclesfield going very close to making it 2-0, it never ever felt like we wouldn't win the game. We created chances for fun, and had a certain No.17 started I'm certain we'd have been out of sight inside about 25mins. The goal was 50-50 of shite between Knight and Bogdan, League Two Darren Bent (tall, very quick, decent movement, black, bald, shit beard, all the attributes) ran about 40 yards in a straight line, in front of Knight, behind Wheater whilst the former watched him go, arm in the air, playing him onside himself. Bogdan came, stopped, came again, got no where near it. Wasn't the best defending. Rest of the half we created, and missed, chance after chance. Eagles and Tunners probably guilty of the worst misses, though Blake and Petrov both had very good ones too. Still looked vulnerable to pace on the counter though.

Davo came on at half time, gave us better shape, without doing much himself. We continued creating chances and eventually took two of them. They took off League Two Darren Bent and brought on League Two useless lump, which was kind.

As for individual performances,

Boggers, Literally three things to do, one he fecked up, one was picking the ball out of the net, and the other was a decent, but expected save low to his right from a free kick.

Riley was excellent, MotM between him, Petrov, and Tunners for me. First half he did the things young players always do when they get rave reviews, ie, not much wrong, second half he was excellent, really confident, wanted the ball, used it well, drove forward. Very impressed. No idea whether or not he can defend, but he looks ready for first team football somewhere for me.

Alonso, I just don't see it. Wasn't as painfully slow, but he lumbers, is cumbersome and never convincing. Went off injured.

Wheater, bad first half, Ok second

Knight, worse first half, Ok second

Eagles, on t'other side, couldn't see much, seemed busy and alert. Should have scored.

Petrov, looks brilliant in a team in control. Attacked his full back, great movement, great pace, probably should have scored first half, created chances others should have scored, made a great run for his goal. Still soft as shite like, and never allowed in our half, but he was very good tonight.

Mavies, busy, played deeper as Pratley ran on. tidy on the ball, didn't do much wrong without ever being spectacular. Kept things ticking over. Needs to learn to shoot instead of always looking for that one two on the edge of the box.

Pratley, was good, full of running, got forward. Wasteful at times, and doesn't look particularly inventive on the ball, but tidy, and will score goals IMO. Think brown, more mobile, Kevin Nolan.

Blake, meh, jester. Can't run, so pops up with flicks and hollywood passes that are either sublime or proper shit.

Tunners, very good debut. Wasn't helped first half by being the only legs up top. Moved to right wing when Davo came on. Think his performance today summed up what we will get. Lots of running, lots of frustration, bad miss first half, shocking balls across midfield in the second half, and a dodgy attempted chest back to Bogdan; however, a few moments of real quality, something without Lee I think we really miss. Took his goal very well, and his pass for Petrov's was sublime. Klasnic is the one I'd really like to see him with, as he has the invention to find Klas in that half a yard. Very good debut though, without getting over excited.

Macclesfield were pretty pish tbf though, with the shittest mascot I've ever seen, a really camp lion called Rory (or is it roar-y?). Highlights for us were Riley, Petrov, and Tuncay. Personal highlight was little kid (maybe 6?) sat next to me who I'm sure at one point looked up at his dad and said 'Zat Knight....shite...hawk'. Also adopted a really frustrated tone to berate Mark Davies for not using his left foot, and started making up his own words to '1-0, and you f*cked it up' which, to the same tune, went, 'It was 1-0 but it's now 2-1 one Macclesfield what were you thinking' sung really quickly. It didn't scan but was piss funny.

All in all it was fecking miles better than that Northampton game!

Blake and Tuncay started up front?
