Don't think that's the point. You knew they were leaving, I knew they were leaving, the entire f**king world knew they were leaving, but Wenger refused to deal with reality. There are no excuses for Arsenal if they do poorly this year. Sure losing those two players were a big loss but you had time and money to resolve the matter and Wenger not only failed in all likelyhood but seemed not to even try until what might end up being too late. Now are are in the final days of the transfer window and he is still farting around playing stupid games and committing all the sins that he constantly whines about from other people.
We don't know if it was arsenals fault or the buying clubs fault that the nasri and fabregas deals were completed so close to the end of the window. If it is our fault then yes, it will also be our fault if we run out of time to buy and thus be crap this year but our hands could have been tied...

I am not blaming Arsenal for the time frame of the departures. I'm sure both clubs were being pricks. Wenger seems to have spent more time this summer buying himself a young boy who might pan out in the future, even though there were various pressing needs that needed immediate attention, of which the inevitable departure of fabs and Nasri were only 2 areas needing to be dealt with. Now the lack of effort to resolve those areas has resulted in the expected mediocre start to the season, and you are in a panic going into the final few days.

Wenger has stated it was more then the £6mil quoted and I read somewhere that it was around that amount (£8mil) I cant remember where I read that and I can't be bothered to get out of bed and use the pc rather then my phone to google it.

That's what i was trying to say neither clubs come out of this great, inwasnt just having a go at Bolton.
Hence me also saying that neither club has covered themselves in glory. The offer was low, we should have just rebuked it. End of story
Am not arguing that, but everyone always starts with a low offer when trying to buy a player, same as teams over value their players when trying to sell. Noone seriously expects they will get Cahill for 6 or 8 mil same as you lot can't seriously believe you will get £16/17 mil for him. What is odd is that Bolton are choosing to make the transfer discussions public.
OK, teams do start out with low offers. Completely right but it was the media who broke the story about the offer. Coyle was asked yesterday during a press conference. He didn't mention a fee or how much had been offered, 'the offer was a million miles away from our valuation'.
Me personally, I believe that it's a fair price for potentially a world class player
Pfffft.

Can't believe this "covered in glory" shite.

Press announced that Arsenal had made an offer. It's only a small leap from there until someone asks Bolton whether it was a done deal because Arsenal had made an offer. Gartside is fine to respond saying it was a shite offer, Wenger's entitled to disagree.

I think they should have a scrap over it, after school.

as for cahill once we get some offers north of 11mil think about it...but until then keep him and play him! he's too valuable to us not to play.

First to note is that this bid came to the public domain only because John Cross a mirror journo who covers Arsenal tweeted it having been fed it from you guess Arsenal! Funny that, why would Arsenal possibly want that info out in public? Trying to unsettle a player? Standard dirty tactics from A Wanker! Only after that did Coyle and Gartside make any comment following on from Coyle's mate writing it in the paper! None of that would have happened if Wenger wasn't using the media to play dirty games!

For me it sounds like Wenger offered 6 million plus add ons. Add ons probably consisting of more money if Arsenal qualify for the Champions League next year as well as other european success....No wonder Gartside considered it only an offer of 6 million.

This whole "offers" thing is a bit daft". Clubs should put a fair valuation on players, buyers come along ask: "How much?" get told and buy or leave. The system works well enough in all other walks of life, why not football? Clubs would soon stop putting over-rated valuations on players if they didn't sell and "first come first served" would apply. Save a whole world of bullshxt and put clubs back in charge instead of players and agents.

If Arsenal wanted to unsettle the player then a quick and untraceable call to the players agent would do it. Plus there have already been massive amounts of media driven stories about Cahill to Arsenal. If Cahill didn't already know that Arsenal were interested in him he must have been on Mars over the summer. And of course we're talking about a player who by running down his contract is already saying his future isn't at Bolton.

Had Arsenal leaked it they would also have got the value of the offer right. By quoting a incorrect figure of £6 mill it does 2 things. 1) Alerts other clubs to the possibility of getting Cahill relatively cheaply and therefore starting an auction (which is better for Bolton than Arsenal) and 2) Makes the player think Arsenal don't rate him very highly which isn't what Arsenal want. (If you watched Wenger's press conference you'll notice he made a definite point of saying he values the player highly)
I'd also point out that Arsenal have a history of keeping their dealing quiet whenever possible and Coyle has been

So if either club leaked it I'd suggest it was Bolton rather than Arsenal. But so what ? If it means they can get some more money for him then it's a good thing for the club.

It was neither, it was a Daily Mirror reporter who does a lot of Arsenal related stories. His name has already been posted on this thread

Okay, should have said "other walks" rather than all walks, but it's the criteria for most buying and selling.

should someone who is employed by the FA really be using obscene comments whilst speaking about other football clubs?

I thought that after the Jack Whilshire loan deal there was a fair amount of respect at a managerial/senior level between the two clubs? Clearly not.
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,

Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Its screwed Bolton tho. If they do bid well and get Cahill, we are without our best defender and with how many days to find a replacement ?

To quote a fave movie of mine ...
" Theres a diffrence between a failure and a fiasco. A failure is merely the absence of success, any fool can achieve failure. But a fiasco, a fiasco is a disaster of epic propotions, a fiasco is a folk tale told to make those that fail feel better ... "

I agree but would Coyle have someone lined up? I mean he's known its been likely to happen for ages...

I'm sure he does but whether his primary targets are still available at such a late date is another matter.

Yes obviously but either Arsenal or Bolton must have given the 'scoop' to John Cross or Alan Nixon (both at Mirror but not sure who put it out first). My view is that it was Bolton.
