After watching that game, I'm not sure Cahill will even accept a transfer to Arsenal.

well . . . . 20 million ? think it's worth it
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Exactly. Why would he want to battle relegation when he can have mid table obscurity?seanworth wrote:After watching that game, I'm not sure Cahill will even accept a transfer to Arsenal.

... for sure .... a couple of 14yr olds for a joint fee of £27m.spikeykev wrote:That was unreal, will Wenger finally splash the cash???
It's "for the future" you see.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Even after watching Arsenal lose 8-2 on a beautiful 60" HD TV, I still think they won't offer us enough for us to sell him.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
surely they must realise we wont sell for less than it would take to 1/ replace him adequatley 2/ make profit
i hear onohua is going for 8 so with the sellon clause villa had with cahill we would probably need 11 to break even and get onohua instead and tbh that makes no sense seeings cahill is lets be honest bloody brilliant atm and not only that hes exactly what arsenal need we should be holding out for above 15mil easily!!

Yeah, but you don't actually belong to "that lot" any more, do you?! You just like to think that you do.Gooner Girl wrote:Because we are the only club out of that lot you just mentioned to live within our means...ChrisC wrote:The main thing that annoys me is that when Manure, Chelsea, City & Liverpool find a player they want they don't mess about and they don't insult clubs with silly offers.. They just get on with it and pay up.. Why do Arsenal have to be tools and piss about?

I see Jones got his first call up - in the first squad announced since he moved from unfashionable to fashionable.Beefheart wrote:Yeah, I bet Jagielka, Lescott or Jones gets a start ahead of him though....
No surprise players like Gary want to move on.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Mirror (not Mr Nixon) says "Arsenal will go in with a fresh £12million bid which could rise to around£15m with any international and club honours won by Cahill over the course of a five-year contract."
The bolded bit suggests a total of £12m will be received if this particular deal goes ahead.

£12 million (we won't ever get the other 3 judging by the above clause) for how desperately they need a centre back?
Come back with a real offer Arsene!

I would accept £12m potentially rising to £15m.

I hope there is some truth to that. Bassong or Bentley would be fine. Especially Bassong.
Nixon has always been very short with rumours of Spurs interest and says stuff like 'no they'd want player exchange so it won't happen' (and suchlike), strikes me as odd why we wouldn't want that...especially for someone like Bassong who would be a ready made replacement.
...and it can't be like wages are the issue there because our other potential replacement is Onouha who earns towards the upper echelon of our wagebill with City.

Cat amongst the pigeons if that's true Jimbo. Arsenal fans already baying for blood - last thing they'll want is Arsenal losing out to Spurs for a CB because of Wenger's short arms. Hopefully it'll drive the price up.
