Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
If that's the case I can't see him signing an extension. Sounds like he wants to go and we've been holding out for the best deal for us. Remains to be seen whether we've been too ambitious or not

as we should - he's our player...hisroyalgingerness wrote:If that's the case I can't see him signing an extension. Sounds like he wants to go and we've been holding out for the best deal for us. Remains to be seen whether we've been too ambitious or not

That's the spirit. We won't be low-balled!
If sticking to our guns means missing out on 10m or so well, that's the price of principles!

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
From BBC: "A very good Bolton source tells me he thinks Gary Cahill is unlikely to leave and that Man City were in talks with him at one stage. That deal fell through because the clubs couldn't agree on players going the other way. Source also believes Arsenal could have bought Cahill for £10m-£12m and that the defender had been left frustrated by whole episode."
As I said a few hours back...big risk to keep him if he's unhappy and to leave on a free.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
being "left frustrated" doesn't mean he's mad at BWFC - he could be frustrated by the fact that no club deems him worthy of paying the going rate...jimbo_bwfc wrote:From BBC: "A very good Bolton source tells me he thinks Gary Cahill is unlikely to leave and that Man City were in talks with him at one stage. anyway - ages to go yet! Coyle has a poker face and Wenger always blinks first! (errr....)
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Even if he does end up leaving on a free in July, he still needs to put in work this season and that work will be for us. I'm sure he'll want a nice contract where he signs, and he'll probably still want those England call ups and he can't very well get those things if he starts playing like Zat... Sure it'd be nice to pick up a stack of cash for him, but I'd be just as happy to see him playing well for us.jimbo_bwfc wrote:From BBC: "A very good Bolton source tells me he thinks Gary Cahill is unlikely to leave and that Man City were in talks with him at one stage. Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
So if Crouch leaves Spuds, does that free enough cash for them to bring in Cahill?Sky Sports sources understand that Peter Crouch has agreed to join Stoke and is waiting to finalise a switch from Tottenham.

Sky saying the deal is 50/50, fee is the stumbling block.cecil.bob wrote:So if Crouch leaves Spuds, does that free enough cash for them to bring in Cahill?Sky Sports sources understand that Peter Crouch has agreed to join Stoke and is waiting to finalise a switch from Tottenham.

Can't help but think he's better than Spurs. I'm sure he would agree.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
He is better then Spurs (but then so's my 80 year old Grandmother) Was really hoping he would come to us. Gutted.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
He won't go to Spurs as Twitcher will end up signing more players in January and he'll end eventually on the bench.
Pfffft.

unless this is extraordinary brinkmanship on our part - surely there's no time for us to get a replacement in now anyway?

Issue is replacement or not if Spurs meet the release clause, what can we do?thebish wrote:TKIZ! wrote:He won't go to Spurs as Twitcher will end up signing more players in January and he'll end eventually on the bench.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Not really, although Onouha knows he's not wanted at Citeh and that we'd buy him if Cahill goes

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Bassong to QPR is off, imagine that's because Spurs have finally realised that Cahill isn't happening.
Hope we don't live to regret keeping him...

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Nothing really to regret as of yet. The two bids that have come in (£6mil from Arsenal, a boatload of shite from Spurs) have been joke bids.
Don't see any benefit in selling him now, as we'd struggle for a replacement. Onuoha doesn't appear to be going anywhere either.
