He's played 80 minutes, he will be eased back in from the bench sure, but I expect he will be hoping to play a major part from now on!

Is Holden due to play against Rochdale next week? Will definitely be going to see him if so!

N'gog and Klasnic up front sounds very good.

Coyle said last week if he came through the two friendlies it'd be three weeks.

Love Stu, but we have enough midfielders at the club not to have to panic and rush him back. He's not so good that he'll walk back into our team having been out for 6 months with no pre-season either. Certainly no point rushing him back so he can stroll about half-fit while Man Utd and Chelsea dick us.

I'm happy with N'Gog, but he isn't Sturridge good. He isn't particularly quick at all, and he isn't the bustling, greedy goal grabber Sturridge is. However, his movement when I've seen him has been very good, and he can finish. Klasnic sort of player, but less dead eyed, and more mobile. On the one hand I'm happy, but on the other I'm frustrated that LCY and Holden are both out, otherwise I think we'd be set for a cracker. If Kakuta can contribute, we're more than set IMO though.
I think the Sturridge comparison is slightly harsh, as no-one (that I can recall) was talking about him in those terms when he first signed.

I'm not saying N'Gog is going to come in and be as good as Sturridge, we'll wait and see. I think Sturridge would find it difficult to replicate what he showed for us last season. He was a good player who was outstanding for a relatively short period of time.

Agreed I'd keep him in reserves for another match or two and then put him on the bench and give him the last 20-30 minutes until the end of September and then give him like an hour for a few games and then he should be back!

Agreed

get him match fit for when we start playing teams that we are in with a decent shout off beating so another 4- 6 weeks won't do any harm can't risk losing him for the rest of the season

Sturridge probably did play above himself for the months he was with us. Perhaps a concerted effort to put himself in the shop window, or raise his stock at Chelsea.

Or then again our system really suited him and he actually will be that good. :conf:

Oh yes he is! Pretty sure there was a thread about our performances with/without him, and y'know the whole Stoke thing 'n that...

I wouldn't bring him in until he's ready though. We do have more depth than last season at least.

Coyle isn't a fool. He'll only put Holden back in there when he's good and ready and fully match fit.

Glad to see the reception here was quite as bad as other forums I've been to around the net.
:)

Obviously anyone can be made to look really good on Youtube, but this video by a Liverpool fan shows what N'Gog is CAPABLE of, even if he hasn't produced it every week. For a good time, check out the rest of El Alonso's videos after that one. They are some of the best on Youtube if heavily skewed toward Liverpool.

I do vaguely remember the % for when he's in the team and when he's out, and you only have to look at it to know it's bollocks. He'd be the greatest player in the world if he could have that much of an effect on the fortunes of an entire football team.

The problem wasn't Holden being injured, it was who we had to replace him. A much more pertinent stat is the % of games when Holden was injured, where we were able to field both Muamba and Mark Davies in midfield, as opposed to relying on Cohen and Elmander.

With the addition of Pratley and Reo-Coker, and Muamba and Davies currently both being fit and healthy, we have plenty of cover while we wait for Holden to fully recover and get back to his best.

Oh yeah, and the thing I've tried to tell every Liverpool supporter who wanted to get rid of N'Gog is this:
Two years ago Lucas Leiva was 22 and most people said he was shit. Look at him now.

Sorry I keep posting...I'm just seriously gutted we lost N'Gog as I think he has a big future ahead of him and the price you paid is a pittance for someone with his potential.
