What Formation & Who would you play?

Hi all,

I have just registered on this forum, I have been reading for the last few months, I'm interested to know what you think our team will look like now that we have brought in a few new signings, we have plenty of forward options now, who would you start with?

N'gog and Davies
Klasnic and Davies
Klasnic and N'gog
Tuncay and Klasnic
Davies and Tuncay
Tuncay and N'gog

I would love N'gog to get a good run in our first team, but can't see who OC will drop, Klasnic is on decent form and it seems a little unfair to drop him considering he has 3/3 and Davies seems to have a place regardless of how he plays.

What do people think?

It's not like us to have the luxury of having enough players to pick and choose from. Personally I'd like to see N'gog and Klasnic with Tuncay just behind them. However I don't think up front is our biggest problem area. Our midfield needs sorting as no combination of the available candidates seems to be gelling at the moment and we can't just rely on Stuart Holden's comeback to sort everything out. Our defence needs Mr Knight removing ASAP and, at the risk of being shot down in flames, our great servant useless jaaskelainen needs putting on the bench as he is past his best.

My guess is N'gog and Davies will be first choice up front with Tuncay and Klasnic slightly further down the order.

Tuncay can of course fill in on the right, but Klas may find himself as impact sub. Maybe not immediately, given his purple patch, but ultimately. That's my hunch.

With Kakuta to add pace if required - I don't think he'll walk into the team – and Klasnic with killer instinct off the bench. Eagles could be in for Tuncay.

And we're obviously waiting on Ricketts. Knight, I think, needs a break, although I don't think he's as bad as many say.

I'm just glad we've got some options. Trick for Coyle now is to pull these together into an effective team. A challenge that might be more considerable than people think. But we've done well to get the players in and now Coyle has to make it work, can't really complain, he's picked em, am sure he'll find a way of putting it together.

We are still a bona fide wide player short IMO. Were LCY fit then we'd not be, but as it is, we don't have a first team option in there really. Not the Petrov/Taylor either can play situation anyways!

I agree with dropping Knight, he has been well below par this season even by his standards, can Boyata play RB until Ricketts is back from injury?

According to my citeh supporting mate he's more of a centre back. Would prefer him at right back to Wheater though.

At least we have attack options on the bench now, something we've been frighteningly light on of late. If we're holding our own in defence it's still goals that get the points. Looks much healthier all round right now.

NRC and Holden should be an amazing midfield.

I think at home Tuncay on the right and Petrov on the left could be a very exciting shape to play with, let Tuncay roam in from the right and get into the box and produce a bit of magic every now and again.

Up front, we could probably combine any two of NGog, Davies, Klasnic and Tuncay so it will be interesting.

Best thing seems to be that having a bit of depth in all areas will stop players taking their selection for granted. Coyle's wily enough to operate that fact and get maximum effort from everybody..

From where I was sat at Anfield it looked like we played 4-3-3 towards the end with the midfield being pratley/reo-coker/mark davies and tuncay/klasnic/petrov up front.

Would be a great formation at home, against teams similar to ourselves. The midfield 3 to be selected from those mentioned + holden/muamba and upfront to be rotated with N'Gog/Davies/Kakuta.

In regards to the next fixture against Man Utd i hope Coyle would relinquish some of my fears from the 8-2 game and play a 4-2-3-1/4-5-1 or even 4-4-1-1
