Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Kind of surprised he didn't go in the end. Would love to know what was really going on behind the scenes. Maybe Cahill was only really interested in Champions League. To me it seemed like not a bad move for the lad, and if the money quoted was accurate not a bad deal for ourselves. Got to think that Coyle has a plan we and Nixon are unaware of.

He could have made the difference in getting you lot into the Europa League. Or are you just aiming for mid-table this season?Arsenal guest wrote:If he makes the difference between getting you into the Europa and not then it's still pretty good business I guess.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Reason GC didn't go is simple, we set the bar a bit too high. Happy Harry's apparent 13m bid was not far off the mark and I think we'd have taken 15 at the onset if it all hadn't been too late for us to find a replacemement. We might even have taken the 13 if it had been made in decent time. Would have thought the twitchy one could have seen that instead of doing his usual dead-of-night Fagin routine. If he'd come in with 15, even 13, days ago GC would probably be at Happy Harry's Holiday Camp right now. Ain't nuclear physics. Wenger? He's just clueless in thinking he could force us to part from desparation. We had,and still have, the poduct. He just has his dreams of glory. Come on Gary, prove your worth as a White and fxck em all.

He's already proven his worth, hence the interest from the big boys.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
From what I heard Spurs got nowhere near the 13M that is reported. They offered swaps and a similar amount to what Arsenal offered. If they'd offered 13, I suspect it may have happened for a number perhaps slightly above that ballpark. Earlier in the day Nixon tweeted as much to say that Spurs were not just a bit away but miles and miles off!

We need him to get him to sign an extension on his contract now or we're not going to get a penny for him!

You're not allowed to talk about Nixon any moreBWFC_Insane wrote:From what I heard Spurs got nowhere near the 13M that is reported. They offered swaps and a similar amount to what Arsenal offered. Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Whatever price we'd set, other clubs would have offered far less because he's in the last year of his contract. The club obviously decided that if no-one was prepared to pay the going rate, then we'd keep him, rather than trying to find an adequate replacement for the money we were offered. I doubt Spurs would have been paying £13M up front.TANGODANCER wrote:Reason GC didn't go is simple, we set the bar a bit too high.

But that aside, common sense says that if Spurs had offered 13M, that the deal would have been done, possibly for 14 or so. I suspect they offered something like Arsenal, 6M down rising to 10/11 based on appearances, results and fantasy.Lofthouse Lower wrote:You're not allowed to talk about Nixon any moreBWFC_Insane wrote:From what I heard Spurs got nowhere near the 13M that is reported. We'll get a fee for him in January. If any club is genuinely interested, they won't want to risk missing out by leaving it until the end of the season and competing with other clubs for his servcies.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:We need him to get him to sign an extension on his contract now or we're not going to get a penny for him!

£120,000 per week

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Football 365 has the deal breaking down because Coyle insisted on Defoe being part of the deal. Would have loved that to happen, but can't see it myself.
