Aye let's drop a guy who has scored in every game he has played this season.Tombwfc wrote:We're wasting our time if we go 4-4-2 with Muamba/NRC/Petrov/Eagles/Davies/Klasnic. We created nothing against Liverpool and little against City apart from a couple of excellently taken half-chances, infact in general we must be going at near 100% in terms of chances converted.
Aside from that, I just don't see the point in persevering with it until we get sufficiently dicked to change it. Does anybody believe that is our strongest set-up?
If we have to go 4-4-2, and Davies has to play, then at the very least Tuncay should come in for Klasnic. Sorry Ivan.
And we got a point last season playing 4-4-2!

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
If we play an opposition the option we have is either to play negatively or go for it. OC refuses to play negatively, which is fair enough. So you have to go for it every game and if some players aren't up for it you leave yourself open to a kicking.
The system didn't seem to work against Liverpool but also certain players weren't on form.
We could well be on the receiving end of a thumping but we're at home, we'll have had 2 weeks to work on tactics and get the new signings settled in, competition for places and, worst of all, there is hope.

Nah look, when we play Man U, or any of the best sides there is only one formula to win.thebish wrote:what have you done with the real BWFCi????BWFC_Insane wrote: And we got a point last season playing 4-4-2!
Take your chances
Get a bit of luck
They miss a few great chances
We defend well
All those things need to happen. Had Knight and Jussi not given City a goal apiece we'd have had something off city. Irrespective of us playing 4-4-2!

We're going to need Tuncay's workrate to have a chance of staving off the DMBs.

You can't run a sensible competitive squad if you drop a guy with 3 in 3! Sends out a terrible message!Horza wrote:Including our thumping at Anfield.BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye let's drop a guy who has scored in every game he has played this season.Tombwfc wrote:We're wasting our time if we go 4-4-2 with

I'd agree, yank him off after 10 mins if he ain't scored and they are over running usBWFC_Insane wrote:You can run a sensible competitive squad if you drop a guy with 3 in 3! What? That managers have the right to make tactical changes to suit different opponents? That scoring goals in defeats isn't the sole criteria for striker selection?BWFC_Insane wrote:You can run a sensible competitive squad if you drop a guy with 3 in 3! Yeah Ivan you've got yourself fit and can last 90 minutes as I asked, and you've scored 3 in 3 but you're dropped now, whilst you're partner who doesn't score anywhere near as many and I hauled off early in the last game cos he was absolutely shite, stays in.Horza wrote:'Yeah Ivan, you didn't put any pressure on their defence so we got flooded in midfield and they put three past us but keep knocking in those consolations!'
What a message that sends out.

ManUre will get tonked if we go 4-2-3-1.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
So we play him until he fails to score in a game and then drop him then? Is that fair? If it was up to me, Klasnic wouldn't be the one getting dropped, but one of them has to go. The fact that he scored against Liverpool (and to a lesser extent, Man City) is irrelevant, as it's him and Davies up front which are playing a part in looking so disjointed going forward, and us getting so overrun at the back.
Coyle has a squad of good attacking players now. He's better, and we're better than continuing to plod on aimlessly, hoping at some point we'll get one half chance and he'll put it away for a consolation.

Thats not an awful idea to play 4-2-3-1Holden midfielder wrote:ManUre will get tonked if we go 4-2-3-1.
Jussi
Steinsson Cahill Boyata Robbo
Coker Mavies
Eagles Tuncay Petrov
Ngog or Klasnic
the only threat I can see is coming from the wings or Rooney!

Fook me we've had one bad game. How are Jussi and Knight still in the team on that basis? Or Muamba, or Steinsson or robbo?Tombwfc wrote:So we play him until he fails to score in a game and then drop him then? Is that fair? If we are leaving a striker out or changing one, then you can only so so on form, otherwise you are not being fair or giving folk a chance. As it stands if we are going to leave a striker or on performances, and at the minute it can't possibly be justified to leave Klasnic out over Davies!

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
If we're playing 4-4-2 and need to shoe-horn Tuncay in, then I'd be looking to either repalce Eagles (which I feel would be unmerited) or Davies. Which in my mind hands a psychological advantage to yernited, as they really don't like him.
I'm guessing we'll just stick with what we've used so far.
In the context of how the teams we've played have performed in other games this season, I think we're overreacting if we're looking for wholesale changes. These games were, are, and remain icing on the cake. We shouldn't be reading too much into them.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
Those players (other than Muamba) have replacements who are pretty much like for like. I don't think it changes anything to swap Knight for Wheater or Bogdan for Jussi, for example.
I'm not saying drop Klasnic (or Davies) because he's had a bad game, but because I don't believe the way Coyle wants us to play is going to work with the two of them in it. It's not about the form of an individual player, it's what gets the best out of the team. For me, Tuncay's movement upfront (or NGog's if you like, he always seemed to put in the effort when playing up on his own for Liverpool) is the best way of doing that.
If you ask me what I think will actually happen, at most Tuncay will come in for Eagles (which is fairly harsh in itself) and if we lose Klasnic will be dropped for NGog. What the point of that will be, I've no idea.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
I don't think it would do well to throw new guys in now anyway, its more likely than not that we'll lose this game. It may benefit to leave them on the bench, but gives Coyle some elbow room to have them starting later on if we get nowt, as it'll be three league games lost on the spin.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
We want proper competition, people should have to fight for their places with performances on the pitch. We all know given what we've paid for him and the wage package he'll be on that Ngog will be starting up front sooner rather than later! Feel that Tuncay will get a wide berth at some point, and that Boyata will get Steinssons position again relatively soon.
Still think dropping a 3 in 3 striker would send out the wrong message at this stage!
