If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Still, at least this time we took the yanks out too...

Great win for Mo Farrah, Shame Idowu had to settle for silver though. Anyone else been watching? Gary? Harry?

I listened to Mo's race on the radio on the way back from a 10k race in Swallowfield nr Reading. Sounded exciting! I then caught the aftermath of the 4 x 100m relay, what a disaster!

How did I do? Oh, thanks for asking. New PB 43.48 (unofficial)

Drizzle round the course, which was ideal. It belted down about 10 minutes after I finished. Very chuffed with my time. Here's to sub 43 now!

Next Sunday. Enfield Mayor's fun run. Another 10k and the venue for my last pb. Hopefully I'll do better still.

Great time Gary and a minute faster than my 10k PB yer git

I'm still hobbling round with my 'runners knee' which apparently isn't really a knee problem. Managing 6 or 7 miles now but have already ruled myself out of the Snowdonia marathon so there's a free place going spare if you want it?

As for the Athletics? Mo  Tremendous

Any reason why Idowu doesn't attempt the Long Jump as well?

And Mo's a gooner  Dunno why Idowu doesn't attempt the long. Reckon he would be pretty good at it.

'Hobbling round' in the same sentence as '6 or 7 miles' isn't gonna win you much sympathy here Harry, given the vast majority of us would probably die sometime after about 4 miles ;)

As a coach GG you must have seen it countless times. After an injury somebody doing too much to soon, to try and get their fitness levels back to where they were as soon as possible. I've seen it myself but would rather run with a bit of pain than not run at all. :?

Yup, i would say as a coach take it VERY easy but if you're anything like the athletes i coach i know there would be no point, you're all so petrified of losing fitness you try and run through and then are out longer  ;)

You've been running a while haven't you? And doing a fair amount of training by the sounds of it. It won't take you that long if you rest to get back to where you were, i promise. How long have you been out?

Been running 3 years now. Had the odd niggle but this has been my longest injury. With the taper up to the Coniston marathon and the rest afterwards, I have probably only ran about 7 or 8 times in 2 months. I usually run 4 times a week. I tried running with a knee strap yesterday and that seemed to help.

Do you cross train HG? I've found it easier to cycle with the odd injury (I'm a martyr to shin splints) but found cycling and swimming to be reasonable substitutes until the injury is more or less healed. I take it you've sought professional advice too? Google doesn't count.

I don't cross train as much as I should. Never got into cycling but I go on an exercise bike in the garage once or twice a week. Swimmings ok but dreadfully dull - no? I've never had an injury like this before where my knee started hurting straight after a run and 3 weeks later it's still giving me gip. Fortunately, I had the joint thoroughly tested and theres no actual knee problem, it's just a tightening of the various muscles around the back and legs. I've always been pretty good in warm ups and cool downs but I've had to really up my stretching sessions in the hope it will go away eventually.

I'm sure this enforced rest will do me good in the long run. Any road, do you fancy this marathon place? Saturday 29th October. It's been sold out a while and is supposed to be a good un. Go on, you know you want to :)

My knee were a bit like that, just had loads of muscle-building and stretching to do on the legs. Seems be ok now
