This might be a possible comparison:Holden midfielder wrote:What is the latest on Alonso's legal situation?
About five/six years ago a young Spanish flamenco dancer (very famous and well-paid) of a similar age to Alonso, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Test driving a new car, he hit and killed a young girl in (I think) Madrid. He was given a sixteen month suspended sentence and had to pay the girl's family 100,000 euros. The case made huge headlines and Alonso may, with luck, get a similar punishment. I say with luck because of escaping prison. Either way, I hope it's a lesson to him whilst also hoping he can carry on his career and make his peace with the unfortunate family. .

I hope he gets sent down for life. He killed someone, no matter the circumstances, and deserves life.

Yes. It's that simple. Well done.

So anyone who kills someone, no matter what the circumstances deserves life.

No, that's not what I said.
No matter the circumstances of Alonso's case. It's really not that difficult to work it out, Gary

I think in this case she was actually in his car as opposed to being a pedestrian or in another car.

No matter what the circumstances, he doesn't deserve life outside of Planet Hobo. We need a little perspective on the difference between involuntary homicide and premeditated murder. He was allegedly driving while intoxicated, and crashed causing a death. If guilty I'm sure he will pay the penalty called for by Spanish law. I suspect it will be well short of life, but will ruin his life anyway.

Apparently his blood/alchohol level was the equivalent of bottle of beer. An m-charge would be a tad harsh.

Reckless Homocide is the charge.Sponge wrote:Apparently his blood/alchohol level was the equivalent of bottle of beer. An m-charge would be a tad harsh.
He had alcohol, he was driving, he crashed, someone died, he's going down. This isn't some Hollywood film.
Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
So if it turns out his blood alcohol level was within the limits of Spanish law, and the crash wasn't his fault at all. Jail for life?Lofthouse Lower wrote:No, that's not what I said.

What were the circumstances (I know LL doesn't care but others might)? Where are you getting the info about alcohol level and fault?Prufrock wrote:So if it turns out his blood alcohol level was within the limits of Spanish law, and the crash wasn't his fault at all.
