I see that he's had his teeth done too, the big puff!
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Sunday Times ran with similar...John Terry saying Cahill was 'very unlucky' not to get a move etc...
It also said that instead of playing Cahill we should have played Jones as he is "the future generation." That may be so, but it isn't like Cahill is a seasoned international, is it?

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Does anyone else think that like with Anelka, the club have a nailed on move agreed for Cahill in January?
Probably with Chelsea, who we have good relationships with via Coyle and AVB and we seem to have a recent history of deals with them, Anelka, Sturridge, Kakuta....
I think that explains why we weren't prepared to take a low ball offer from Spurs or Arse.

"As much as some clubs are looking at Gary, nobody got close to that figure [we wanted] and what was offered was not even considered," Coyle told Sky Sports News.
"As far as I am led to believe, there were no offers - in terms of written ones, which reached double figures, which is a million miles away from what Gary can be [valued at].
"We can talk about add-ons, but it is what is guaranteed, not about conjecture - you get this and that if this happens, but that might never happen.
"The bottom line is you put down a fee, and then you may get add-ons from that point then that is different, but in terms of what was concrete it was nowhere near."

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
fact of the matter whith this transfer saga is that we know gary is exceptional and has skill enough to be a challenger in most if not all champions league teams the problem is valuations when people know you have no money are hard work everyone was allways going to low ball us so we told em to gtfo and rightly so as ive said for a long time id rather cahill signs on as our top earner and stays with us longterm over leaving for any sort of realistic transfer fee and by that i mean the 17.5 we rightly have his clause at fingers crossed gary wants to stay if not good luck to him and i hope he goes somewhere and wins tiltles and top honours^^

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
if both chelsea and spurs want him in january - then we're in pretty much as good a position then as we were last week - but with an extra 4 months work out of the lad...

If Chelsea and Spurs are in for him in jan, then Spurs are f*cking kidding themselves if they think they're in that particular race.

Its the arrogance that they think they're a particulalry bigger step up than us that grates the most.
They're basically bottom fedders like ourselves. Just with bigger crowds. As evidenced by their summer spending. Glory, glory hasn't been seen at White Hart Lane for half a century now. Its time to reappraise their status as media darlings.

so glad we did not succumb to gooners or spuds. However the comments are really funny to read.

Yes the comments on there and SkySports are quite funny. They're all so angry that they didn't get Cahill.elfil76 wrote:so glad we did not succumb to gooners or spuds. However the comments are really funny to read.

Had Cahill handed in a transfer request though, it would be wise to let him go but Cahill was purely professional and respectful about the situation.
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
indeed felt a lot of angst and "just wait and you will regret" kind of comments - they can blame their miserly manager for that.
In the current situation where players throw in transfer request at every opportunity for better money, cahill demonstrated otherwise and I will be delighted if he signs a new contract however will not be too disappointed if he leaves for nowt in pursuit of what he thinks will be the best for him outside the trotters.

All Premier League clubs will be on alert after discovering today that England’s rising star, defender Gary Cahill has not signed a new deal at Bolton.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle wants Gary Cahill to sign a new deal at Bolton which will ensure the club keep him, or at least make some more money when selling him.

I Hope he signs a newie (contract)

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I believe that if he'd handed in a transfer request then the hypothetical release valauation clause would have still stood. And Cahill would have forfeited any extra pay-offs or bonuses he was entitled to. I believe thats how it works. So nothing would have changed.elfil76 wrote:indeed felt a lot of angst and "just wait and you will regret" kind of comments - they can blame their miserly manager for that.
