What? Robinson had clearly been identified as being our weakspot, and he duly obliged. Liverpool had two shit fullbacks to play it inside of, Man U just the one. Robinson showed today exactly why he's a Third Division player and nothing more!

I suspect that the fact he was given no help at all by Petrov made him look even worse...Bruce Rioja wrote:William the White wrote:I felt sorry for Robinson - and don't agree with the sneers from some on here)

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
United won 5 away games last season, and only beat West Brom this season due to a late deflected goal, so the idea that they are some unstoppable juggernaut is bollocks.
It's frustrating because we shouldn't have to get completely dicked to provoke changes (it still might not be enough, who knows). The two up front have looked slow and have barely linked up all season. For his part today, Klasnic did ok with the ball whenever he had, but the way we set up at the minute does him (and very few members of our team) no favours. Him and Davies have to be prepared to go and find the ball (like Tuncay was when he came) and neither are up to doing that.
The fact that Plan B in both home games this season has been to put Pratley on and play him or Mark Davies wider on the right, is unbelievable. It's Joey O'Brien on the right wing bad. If you're going to be utterly devoted to 4-4-2, at least do it properly.
On the positive side, I thought Reo-Coker was very good at a time when everyone else had given up. Boyata looked like what he is, a potentially good centre half playing right back. He's a huge step up from playing Wheater there, but I'd rather us play someone more attacking against Norwich.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
I'm gonna have an attempt at going to bed and forgetting about the game. But not before I lay down everything shit about the performance
They include:
The fact when we defend a corner, all of our men are within 10 yards of the goal, so when we clear the ball, we've no chance of chasing, and if it goes to an opponent, we have a good 7-8 yards to make up to close them down
NRC's complete inability to pass to a white shirt not 5 yards directly in front of him
Eagles' being guilty of 3 or 4 silly flicks into areas that he's not facing and won't know who's there
Our inability to learn from refeering decisions and continue giving away silly fouls when we know full well Man U are going to con the officials
Mark Davies' rather generous halt of the break to stop for an injured red
Mark Davies' inability to stay in a game for more than 5 minutes at a time
The front two's first touch
Davo winning excellent flick-ons, ball lands to Klasnic...then what?

Bloody hell I will settle for a full back who can defend. Boyata looked solid to me could have done with one of them at left back too!Tombwfc wrote:United won 5 away games last season, and only beat West Brom this season due to a late deflected goal, so the idea that they are some unstoppable juggernaut is bollocks.

Sorry Tango but as long as Davies keeps leading the line we will, in most games be inefective, we don't play West Ham every week you know!TANGODANCER wrote:Davies isn't on top of his game right now. He'll admit it, he needs to sharpen up, but that statement is absolute cobblers. If he scores, he's Super Kev, if he doesn't, he's rubbish. This season we've played City, Liverpool and United out of four games. How many other strikers tear them to bits every week? Let's keep it in proportion hey?BWFC_Insane wrote:Kevin Davies has shrugged his shoulders and sidled off every game for well over 6 months. Coyle needs to have the balls to drop him. That will be a sign of whether Coyle really has what it takes for the big time!
Coyles love of Knight as also got to end and Mark Davies today showed why despite what some think on here he ain't the answer to a walk through midfield. losing is bad but picking up tankings with players looking like they have just *given up" is totally unacceptable, this is not a Bolton team and Owen needs to pull out all the stops fairly quickly or as someone said earlier it looks like a Sammy Lee team.

Even the West Ham fan at work said I should look for "The Sammy Lee positives".
That hurt. It'll also teach me to take the piss when they lose at home to Cardiff in the last minute.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Worryingly shit. Felt like Wembley all over again, have we not learned anything since then?
And the bit where Jussi nearly headed it into the top corner of his own goal... Jesus.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
I fail to understand the angst here. Several seasons ago i would have been embarrassed by this result, these days I don't see the point.
We were beaten by a team who have spent several hundred million pounds and whose centre forward and captain earn more in a week than our entire squad. Why would anyone expect us to compete? The Prem is a busted flush and it is they who should be embarrassed by the results of the last 2 weeks.
It's how we compete with the teams around us that counts. We should aspire to compete against those teams outside of the top 2 and write off those against the DMB's and City. To do otherwise is to continue to kick ourselves in the shins.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
Most expected us to lose today. But we at least expect to make Man Utd work for it. They were 3 up without getting out of 1st gear. And as Tom says, they are very very good, but we should have at least made them show that rather than gift wrapping the points up nicely for them!

I don't know if I mentioned it before. But that was shit.

This season they've beaten Arsenal 8-2. Have a 100% record and plus 15 goal difference after four games...Tombwfc wrote:United won 5 away games last season, and only beat West Brom this season due to a late deflected goal, so the idea that they are some unstoppable juggernaut is bollocks.
No team is ever an unstoppable juggernaut... But they come closer than most. don't you think?

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
The point I was trying to make... Robinson is certainly not third division, but he's certainly not anywhere near the class of Nani... Are there any full backs that find it easy against him? He gets no help from his winger, who simply doesn't know how to give any kind of protection for the full back (Petrov had a decent game going forward, I'm not criticising his entire contribution)... he wasn't 'targeted' by manchester united as a particular weak point - the whole team was 'targeted'... and proved to be incapable of resisting in every part of the pitch... the TEAM was the 'weakspot...'thebish wrote:I suspect that the fact he was given no help at all by Petrov made him look even worse...Bruce Rioja wrote:William the White wrote:I felt sorry for Robinson - and don't agree with the sneers from some on here)

And not many teams in this league would have matched the FRS in this mood... And NONE have so far...
Owen made it easier for them than it might have been with his selection and tactics... And I'm sorry about that... But I don't happen to think Robbo was any more culpable than others...
Other posters will have their own opinions, of course...
Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
West Brom didn't spend millions in the summer and were only promoted last season, yet they managed to share the same pitch with United for 90mins and didn't embarrass themselves.William the White wrote:This season they've beaten Arsenal 8-2.
