I think the club really rate Bogdan, but he looked hesitant against Macclesfield for their goal, which wouldn't have helped his chances of getting a game after Jussi's mistake for the David Silva goal.

Even though personally I don't think he's quite ready (which I mean in terms of being a bit raw, inexperienced etc..) I'd now have to give Bogdan a chance - he can't be any worse than Jaaskelainen's been for the past 2 season's.

I don't see Bogdan in training every day, perhaps he is ready and capable and chomping at the bit and perhaps now is the time to give him a decent spell in the 1st team.

IMO we just cannot keep playing Jaaskelainen - he's a not a patch on the keeper he was 4-5 years ago.

He's not the player he was when we still had Al Habsi !

Either Bogdan is up to Ali's level or he isn't but he's now our 2nd choice. Given that Jussi's going to rat-shit they need to look at themselves and quick.

Could any keeper have prevented any of the 5 goals yesterday? I'd say no. Think we have bigger issues than worrying about Jussi!

Here we go....there's no need for the sarcasm William is there really

Who has said that Coyle is an idiot ?

My opinion is that Jaaskelainen is no longer good enough to be our No1, and perhaps the defence have no confidence in him. However my thought is that perhaps Bogdan is not quite ready yet which if this is the case means that Coyle should not have sold Al Habsi - but by doing so must mean that either Coyle rates Bogdan ahead of Al Habsi or perhaps we really were skint and just needed the money.

Who knows perhaps with a run in the team Bogdan may do well, but unless he's given a chance we'll never know - but one thing's
for sure I'd don't think that Jaaskelainen is upto it anymore.

For the record William do you think Jaaskelainen is still a top premiership keeper and deserving of a 1st team place every week ?
all of which still slightly ducks the question... out of the keepers we have - who would you have Coyle pick next week?
Bogdan

So far, in this & other threads we have ; -

Jussi's shite and Bogdan's not ready.
Robinson is hopeless.
Steinsson can't defend.
Boyata looks ordinary.
Knight is useless.
Cahill's not as good as we all think he is
Muamba's crap
Eagles is lightweight, a one-trick pony and can't complete a game
Petrov is a flash-Harry who never tracks back.
Mavis is a 5 minute player
Kavies is a spent force.
NRC can't pass 5 yards.
Klasnic doesn't work hard enough and, goals apart, pretty useless,

Phew, it's a good job Holden's due back !!

were you impressed with Bogdan against Macclesfield?

he could VERY EASILY be worse than Jaaskelainen's been for the past 2 seasons.

Petrov was our only attacking threat and outlet yesterday, Klasnic the only one who looked like scoring and NRC the only one who kept going and trying for 90 minutes. Think criticising any of those three is a bit unfair considering some of the shite performances around them. Boyata also did ok for me, Young didn't do an awful lot, mind he didnt have to cos they had a free pass down the left against Robinson!

Didn't go or see any of the game - so I can't comment on his performance. However, from your comment it comes across as perhaps he wasn't very good - but then again Jaaskelainen's not been any good for the past 2 years.

The fact is a premier league side should have a decent No2 keeper, what happens if Jaaskelainen gets injured - so he really should be good enough because if he's not he shouldn't really be at the club as our No2 keeper should he ?

Don't forget the bit about Coyle being clueless as well. Luckily we have several experts on here to put him right.

Nowt Jussi could have done about any of them yesterday. Yes he was wank when he came out but that he is having to come out of his area from a long kick from the opposition keeper is utter shite. The problem Jussi has is that he isn't as good as he was. The thing is, he WAS one of the best keepers in the league. Now his decline is visible, but he is nowhere near 'shit'. Bearing in mind we can't decide who is better, him, or AAH, and that AAH cost upwards of £4m, what are we meant to do? I have seen absolutely no evidence Bogdan is better than Jussi.

We've just lost 5-0 at home. We are on a run of 8 defeats from the last 9 league games. Folk are bound to be a bit critical at the minute. Human nature!

hmmm... but you said "he can't be any worse than Jaaskelainen's been for the past 2 seasons"

that is clearly nonsense. You don't claim to have any real knowledge at all - given that he is the number 2 keeper - it is VERY POSSIBLE that he is worse.

it is ridiculous to claim that he has to be better simply because he is not Jussi.

Our keepers seem worse since Coyles goalkeeping coach from Burnley took over from Fred Barber last season!

Bogdan has all the tools for the job. Its just they need sharpening and putting in the right order. I'd be shocked if he doesn't make it as a prem keeper some time in the nearish future.

I have no idea whether he's ready now, but I'm blowed if I'm going to judge his readyness off one game playing behind the stiffs.

indeed - but nor am I going judge him currently "better than Jussi in the last two seasons" based on his limited appearances.

Jussi still hasn't signed a new contract. Why not try out Bogdan in a game. Keeps him motivated, and might be a wake up call for Jussi even though I can't see how Jussi could have helped us at all yesterday.
