I'd be tempted to play Steinsson at RB too and stick Boyata alongside Cahill

Thought Petrov did ok to be honest. Norwich are there for the taking, but we need to go at them, and with N'Gog, Petrov and Tuncay we can do that.

i want Norrwich to stagger from that pitch dazed and confused, bruised and bleeding, their kits ripped and burned and their limbs hanging on by a bit of spit. anything less will be a disgrace.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
Some of my thoughts;
* 4-4-2 isn't the issue, Everton, West Brom, Fulham and various other clubs have shown that 4-4-2 can be played pretty solidly, the issue is the players we use.
* Eagles, Petrov and Klasnic offer very little without the ball, when we're playing United we aren't going to have the ball for 55%+ of the time so having three 'luxury' players on the pitch is going to cost us.
* I like Coyle, but setting up this way is naive to the extreme and we were exposed by being over-run in midfield and particularly on our left where Robinson was often isolated with Nani and Jones both running at him.
* Prior to the match there was a lot of talk about Muamba not being worth a starting place, but he should be starting these games to offer additional defensive protection as he isn't going to be needed to get forward (were he isn't strong) as we're not going to be spending our time attacking.
* I feel sorry for Mark Davies, he waits for his chance and then gets it against probably the best team in the league with only one other midfielder who is going to work on the defensive. As a result he's chasing shadows all afternoon and constantly receives the ball in deep positions, has very little movement in front of him and a large gap between him and the strikers. I'm not saying he is going to be a world beater, but at least give him a chance.
* Boyata had a decent game, looked reasonably solid defensively and kept Ashley Young pretty quiet. I'd be very tempted to move him into the middle.
* I don't think Cahill and Knight can play together. Although Knight has the key attribute to be the 'stopper' defender (size) he doesn't seem to use it and tries to be the 'cultured' defender like Cahill. It's no surprise Knight's best games have come when Cahill has been out and he's played alongside Ricketts. For me Knight out with Wheather/Boyata alongside Cahill.
* Thank god they have a mid-week Champions League match which made them take their foot off the pedal.

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
Rose tinters must have been on offer this weekend.
Just talked to Old Willy Snr., who depsite years of doom and gloom, reckons we finally have some real footballers in the side. Prior to our weekly post mortem on the game I was sure he'd be as miserable as sin, but no, even though we lost 5-0 he's of the opinion that we played some good stuff when we had the ball and we'll be more than a match for many of the non-top 5 sides.
The optimism comes with some caveats though, not least of which is the proviso that KD is not given a start - which is nothing new as he's been banging on about this for over 2 years. Jussi's out too in the old fellah's line up.
He has the belief that we'll see a much better performances out of the likes of M Davies and NRC when there is some decent pace and movement off the ball upfront. He has a point.

Agree with most of that, but as I said earlier, we don't even play 4-4-2.. And I thought Boyata looked less than solid defensively. His failure to get goal-side of Rooney for the second was poor, although the cross was superb, we didn't pressure the ball at all. The path that ball took should normally mean there are 2 players there to nod it away again, but we obviously don't work on transitions of phases. That said, he didn't work hard enough to get in front of him.Loyal White wrote:Some of my thoughts;

He kept Young quiet on the outside, but the winger would prefer it that way anyway. He's all about getting one v one, then dragging a midfielder over to help out the full-back, thus creating a big hole in the centre of the park for Rooney who's impossible to mark

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
Criticism of Jussi based on yesterday is bizarre, he didn't have hope with any of them. Swapping him with Bogdan is change for the sake of change. As a 'keeper you get games where you get a lot of shots which are saveable and you look a worldbeater, and you get games where a team has five shots and you've no chance with any.
You can work it both ways. West Brom and Sunderland are supposed to be two sides we should be looking to finish around or ahead of. West Brom looked a credible outfit in a narrow defeat to United and Sunderland picked up a point at Anfield. We were blown away in both with an aggregate scoreline of 8-1.Lord Kangana wrote:We were taking twice yearly twattings off these men whilst we ourselves were in contention for Europe.
Just to reiterate, Spurs got dicked 5-1 at home by the team that beat us 3-2, and we lost 5-0 to a team that just beat the favourites for Cahill's signature (because they're so much biggererrer than us) 8-2.
Theres really nothing in all this hand wringing.

West Brom also had no points until going away to Norwich. And as for Anfield, we've been shit there forever. Beaten before we're started, and thats nowt to do with this current regime.
There are also 5 teams in the league without a win. I bet none of them has had the nightmarish fixture list we have to kick off with.

Aye but nobody is saying sack the manager or the whole team, folk are just commenting on a couple of piss poor performances in the last 2 games. Yes we were playing top sides, but that doesnt excuse anyone in the team or those in the coaching set up from some of the things they did wrong. Nobody is saying getting dicked by Man Utd means we will be bottom in May, what we are saying is that some of the problems need fixing soon or else we won't be improving on last season, which is an obvious target of the manager!Lord Kangana wrote:West Brom also had no points until going away to Norwich. LK, I hope you're right. Proper do. Because if we're not we're going to lose 3-2 at home to Norwich next week and Mr Cock Up will go to his guestroom to find the bedsheets are missing

We may lose to Norwich. If we put too much weight on it, we will. But I think after the 38 we'll be alright.

Aye agree; 4-4-2 implies that the two wide men are in line with the centre mids at some point....petrov, whilst looking vaguely dangerous in crossing positions can f*ck right off as far as I am concerned. Absolute liability. Eagles looked more interested in autograph hunting yesterday the prick.boltonboris wrote:Agree with most of that, but as I said earlier, we don't even play 4-4-2.. As for Boyata at CB...apparently the last defender we signed for cash goes by the name of a D. Wheater? I'm not saying he's the answer but what is the f*cking point in signing someone when they aren't even given a chance week after week of that shit from Zat fecking Knight.
If I were picking the team next week I'd go:
------------------Jussi----------------
Boyata--Cahill---Wheater---Gardner
------Pratley------Reo Coker------
Tuncay------M. Davies-----Kakuta
--------------Klasnic------------
Wouldn't even have SKD on the bench. Prefer Robbie Blake!
What we'll get:
-------------------Jussi-----------------
Boyata----Cahil--Knightmare---Robinslow
Eagles---Reo C--Pratley/Moo---Petrov
----------Davies---Ngog/Tuncay-------
Its sad for SKD and Jussi.....been absolute club legends but the way they are shaping up they are going to be remembered for being absolute muppets, clinging onto the BWFC gravy train....

Not sure if this was mentioned, but did anyone see that kid after the Reo Coker attempt?

Re: Wanderers Vs Man U
What did everyone think of Pratley? The people around me were moaning about him when he came on but he seemed to do ok, albeit with the game already over.
I could see Tuncay with a free-er kinda number 10 role, in the hole but able to roam. The game was well over by the time he came on but Ngog looked quite physical, if he can battle, hold the ball up, run and score he could be a ready-made SKD replacement. It's entirely possible OC is already planning on easing SKD out, this was only our first game since Ngog signed. BTW, are we still saying SKD or is it just KD now?

Officer_dibble Trust me.. I do genuinely believe that Wheater would be an improvement on Knight. But that doesn't mean he's any good. From what little we've seen of him, he looked alright, but well capable of a clanger or 4

Will always be SKD for me. He's still a good player, just no longer 'untouchable' and has done ALOT for the football club.Armchair Wanderer wrote:What did everyone think of Pratley?
