Track session tonight. 2 x 1600m at 10k pace with 400m recovery. Then 4 x 400m at 5k pace with 200m recovery.
Earned my glass of wine.

You're lucky to have a track through the winter. Ours is only grass and not floodlit, so its sportshall and road running for our club September - April

We're using the Queen Elizabeth stadium where a young Seb Coe used to train. Recently revamped because Enfield Town FC are about to use it for their home games. We get exclusive use on Tuesdays provided they don't have a game on. Works quite well.

Nice! I have track envy now...
Because we have several within 30 mins drive (Brighton, Crawley, Lewes, Horsham) its a bit of a battle getting anything built in Mid Sussex...

Me? Bitter that a girl can do more keepy-uppies with a bloody Rugby ball than I can with a football? Whatever gave you that idea?Gooner Girl wrote:Are you still bitter I can do more then you?!Bruce Rioja wrote:Thought they came naturally to you!Gooner Girl wrote:No, not that clever!Bruce Rioja wrote:And were you doing keepy-uppies whilst you were at it?Gooner Girl wrote:Did a mile and half round the village with our young athletes before going back out and doing another 3 with my running partner. Anyone on here done their local park run? Might give it a go this weekend as part of my road back to fitness. Mind 9am on a Saturday is a bit early for me.
Good luck to GtE for Saturday. You'll storm it lad

Sunday. And thanks.
On Saturday I'm mentoring a friend of a friend who's doing her first 5k Handicap. She wants to do it in 28 minutes which suits me fine as a light session before Sunday.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Got back about an hour ago.
I can honestly say that was one of the best things I have ever done.
Great race. My swim was slow (expected) but I pushed it on the bike which, given it was a hybrid and not a racer, I turned in a time of just over an hour. A soilid 22 min 5k on a flat park path and I was home.
Completed in 1:36:45 (ish)
Really, really chuffed. With a better bike I'm sure I would have beaten 1:30.
Thanks for all your good wishes.
