blimey! well done mate!Gary the Enfield wrote:Got back about an hour ago.
I can honestly say that was one of the best things I have ever done.
Great race. My swim was slow (expected) but I pushed it on the bike which, given it was a hybrid and not a racer, I turned in a time of just over an hour. A soilid 22 min 5k on a flat park path and I was home.
Completed in 1:36:45 (ish)
Really, really chuffed. With a better bike I'm sure I would have beaten 1:30.
Thanks for all your good wishes.

Great effort GtE.

It was 2 1/2 laps of the park H. To be honest I think it was short. But I'll take it.

3 miles ran today AFTER circuit training! Makes up for the fact i slacked off my longer run at the weekend. Need to find a 5km race to enter to get me competing again...

Suffering today. Tweaked calf muscle and a migraine - no running this week. I missed the Hog Hill '5k in the dark' at Hainault last night. One of my favourite races too.

Did you over-do it a bit in the triathlon?
I'm starting footy training again today, see how it goes... Hopefully will help keep me fit!

Probably. Felt good at the time though.
I have started to listen to my body more now, rather than try and run off injuries. A week's rest now will save six weeks in the future.

Re: The athletics/running thread
X country season starts on Saturday, so I dragged my ar5e out on a 6 miler yesterday and I'm just about to pop out for a 3 mile session with sprints between alternate lamp posts. Injury still hasn't cleared properly yet and last night Mrs G tweaked her calf. Seems we are both going to be out of the Snowdon marathon now and we've already paid for the race & a B&B. Looking like a weekend on the beer and watching the others suffer.

Footy training tonight for first time in years... Have decided you don't notice how far you are running nearly so much if you have a ball at your feet. Not sure it would work round a cross country course though...

In 2010 I was told by run britain that I did the Snowdon Marathon in 4hrs 26 mins.
Which was surprising, considering I didn't run it.

1st X country of the season tomorrow. Not expecting much but will be glad to get round without too much discomfort.
