Never :D . A mate of mine did a 100 mile Ultra this year in the Pyrenees. He's been running donkeys years and is way out of my league. His feet were just 2 huge blisters by the time he finished. Amazing achievement but not for me - ever!

1st X country of the season tomorrow. Not expecting much but will be glad to get round without too much discomfort.
Lightweight! ;)

Good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes!

Had my best race in quite a long while this afternoon. A muddy and wet 3 lap course but despite recent injury problems I felt surprisingly good and strong. Even beat a clubmate that I've only ever beaten once before in umpteen attempts. Now for the reward of beers and chilli this evening :pissed:

Well done HG!

As for ultra races. A guy at our club has done at least two (that I know of) Deca Ironmans. That's ten consecutive Iron mans over 10 days (or earlier if you can).

The man's a machine.

There is also a 20 x Ironman he's considering. It's called a Double Deca. I think I'll stick to eating them!

Because it doubles as my iPod and I listen to music on it as I run.

see - my point exactly!!! that's the downside of a device that rules your life!! if you want music - take a music listening device - then your husband can't phone you to unreasonably insist that you come home and look after his baby....

I have a little MP3 player - it cost about a tenner - it plays MP3s - that's all it does - the missus can't phone me up on it and demand I go shopping!!

Probably so she can use the internet to get directions. My better half is obsessed with her iPhone in the same way. We were walking up in the Lake District in August, and she kept wanting to get her iPhone out to use the GPS to triangulate our position and use the compass to find the general direction back, and google maps to plan our exact route. I wouldn't let her, all we needed was the sun, a vague idea of where we were in relation to big local monuments, and that I knew pretty much where we were and where we needed to go, and she should just enjoy the walk. Of course I marched us off in completely the wrong direction, and it took us aaaaaaaaaaaages to get back but it was much more fun! Where is the romance in iThings?!

I always laugh when someone does that and then it loses signal. We all know the conversation. It starts with "not such a f*cking smart phone now, is it....".

Not really. GG could switch her iPhone into airplane mode which means she can listen to her music without being contactable, but maybe she rather would be, just in case ;)

8) actually - someone what lives here did a survey recently from his back garden (having too much time on his hands) - and concluded that for 3/4 of daylight time there are always at least 3 aeroplanes visible in the air at any one moment (or summat like that), often many more...
