So, we've equaled our away wins from last season already!

We've also doubled our home losses !!

Yet despite it all, at the start of the day we were just six points off ninth place. Glass half-full.

Given our league position prior to this game I shall forgive some of you the euphoric comments. However, although it did not throw me into some sort of cloud nine emotional outburst, I was mightily relieved to see the result this fine morning. Phew!

Interesting to read all the positive reviews. Listening to Charlie Nicholas on Sky and he said we were in control and rarely looked in danger. Then I read the match report on BBC website. 'Wigan dominated the game for long periods'

Ignore'em.

As long as we're creating twelve shots at goal it doesn't matter how much they 'dominated'. Onwards and upwards!

Not a bad game but compared with the earlier game betwen Pool and United it was totally lacking in "quality", are these four teams in the same league a stranger would ask!!

Wigan where very poor but they have something we don't have, and that is a few players with pace and ball skills. It's just that there end product was usually poor, except for Moses who had a very good game that would have given any left back problems. Hence, I believe that the heavy critism of Robinson is a bit unjust.

The player who was far worse was Davies who shouldn't be in the team any more, he is slow and ineffective. Yes he did have an assist for Eagles goal but that was more due to dreadful defending from the Wigna left back rather than anything that Davies did . But I guess his pass to Eagles was at least well paced. But that penalty was pathetic, I was willing someone else to take it when it was given but it had to be Davies and I knew that he would miss it.

But at least the team showed a lot of fight and did not drop their heads when that great, if unexpected, Diame strike went in. Mind I'm still not sure why Jussi didn't even try to save it after seeing it numerous times now. They could have had a couple more from two Moses crosses through the 6 yard box, but luckily for us nobody got on the end of them.

Ngog and Eagles played very well and crafted very good goals from what initially appeared to be awkeward positions.

Ali also kept out a coule of other good shots but looked a little heavy legged and ponderous at times.

All in all the far worse team lost and for once we can smile on a Sunday morning. No major injuries, a very good performance from Cahill and Wheater in the centre and a midfield that played much better, but then the opposition was very poor.

One last word, was Petrov playing?? I know he was on the field but compared with Eagles he didn't do a thing yesterday!!

Well I'm very happy with the result. Really thought we could win this game, but after recent results even if against the best teams in the league, made we wonder how long it will take to snap out of this funk. Scoring 3 goals has certainly got to give the lads a bit of confidence. Looking forward to a thrashing of Sunderland next week.

A telling statistic is that Wigan mustered 2 shots on target as the home side. We had 10!

I doubt we will play a poorer side than Wigan this season so important not to get too carried away by this but to build on it!

A stranger, just maybe, might not know there are about hundred million reasons, with a £ sign in front of them all. Ferraris' are not in the same league as Ford Mondeos for the same reasons. Bet a stranger would know that though. Tottenham and Stoke, in 6th and 7th league positions are just six points ahead of us even though we've already played five of these
"quality" teams in our first eight games.. Keep the faith Aussie.

She moved from Lostock, has two small children, and is busy with cancer awareness - I guess she doesn't have the time she once did.

Agreed, though they have always had success with their South/Central American scouting & managed to have a good flow of fast skillful players from their boosting what has beena lot of dross.

Plus, since they came into the league they've tending to have the kiss on us, so welcome to see the result.

That fan base makes ours look like Stretford though. 12,500 plus us yesterday.

Gotta say that game was anything but dull.

Ok, it was only Wigan, but we can only beat what is in front of us, and despite me being terrified we were gonna drop the points all the way through, we could have easily had a few more while Jussi had little to do. A great 3 points to hopefully spur us on to put this start behind us.

Davo looked better- penalty miss aside- best performance from him so far this season. Ngog looked good too. Love Eagles' workrate. He did so much yesterday and fully deserved his goal. Wheater was absolutely excellent. Knight should not be getting anywhere near his place.

Much better. Great atmosphere from our end too! A great day out!

How could he not have seen it? And really??? You need to see it again, my friend. The camera angle flatters it. And, even if it went in the top corner I don't see how dropping to his knees is going to help. And, thankfully others are now noticing how often Jaaskelainen just drops to his knees nowadays. Great servant, blah, blah, blah, yeah, yeah, yeah, - 'spent force' is now the more appropriate description, I'm afraid.
