Also, anybody else walking that way, there's some seedy looking club called lounge3 opposite the birdcage, they've got pictures of scantily clad women and skinheads, and I'm SURE Sean Davis is one of them. He's not dead!

Yeah, noticed he'd scored for Denmark, but that's by the by. Hasn't he bagged close on to 50 international goals?Trotski wrote:I sure hope I'm wrong. I prey you mean Sean is one of the skinheads and not a scantily clad woman....

We created a few good scoring chances:Bruno3 wrote:The three goals against Wigan all came from defensive cock-ups, albeit there was still some work to do before scoring. Only seen the highlights so could soneone tell me if we actually created any scoring chances without such help. It would help me decide how much confidence to bring along tomorrow. Thanks
- Eagles had a good shot saved by Al Habsi in the first half, and fluffed another in the second straight to the keeper (from the same position he later scored).
- Boyata missed with a low header from a yard out.
- KD missed the ball completely from 6 yards, took the ball down well from a cross and beat the defender only to roll the ball at the keeper, and missed a penalty.
So yes, we created plenty and there may be some I've forgotten so bring your bag of confidence.

Thanks for the info - makes me fell slightly better although I don't think we'll get many chances and need to stick away at least 50% of them that do come alongWandering Willy wrote:We created a few good scoring chances:Bruno3 wrote:The three goals against Wigan all came from defensive cock-ups, albeit there was still some work to do before scoring. Any suggestions with regards keeping a fitba daft 6 year old entertained prior to kick off?
Could stay on the train to Bolton and visit the museum as I see the Lofthouse exhibition is still on.
Glad my username's twice produced such merriment, perhaps I should have chosen four Knights
to add a Bolton context, although the comment about me picking Caro-Kann cause it's a shite defence made me laugh.

Alright lads and lasses... I believe I'm the second Mackem to join in on this thread, hello!
Disappointed with the title of the thread, but don't know who you've had on here before so I'm sure there are good reasons for it... It's them up the road that are delusional I can assure you.
We're very proud of our club, and yes, we're rightly proud of our attendances but delusional isn't the right word. In my opinion anyway!
As for tomorrow, I'd happily, very happily in fact, take a point. Much has been made of your poor start, but only by people who see to choose to ignore the fact that you've played all the big boys in one go! We, on the other hand, haven't played those teams, and have had an equally shocking start to the season. There's a real sense of disappointment at how things have gone so far up here, and SB is hardly making things better with his recent little digs at the fans. I've long been a Bruce supporter and an advocate of giving him time to turn it round, but I don;t see how he can continue to manage the club having come out with "We're only Sunderland, lets not get above our station" as well as accusing the fans of putting too much expectation on him and the team. This is the same man who claimed he'd thrive on expectation and pressure in the North East when he joined us 2 and a half years ago... Funny how he's changed his mind now he's ballsed it up, eh? We are Sunderland, yeah. We're not expecting to win the ECL or the League or anything, but what sort of manager comes out with lets not show some ambition. Interested to know what our owner and now Chairman thinks of those comments... For Christ sake, Stoke, Fulham and Birmingham are all playing in Europe at the minute!
Anyway, enough of him. To relate to previous posts, Bendtner has looked very, very good so far for us. Him, Larsson and Wes Brown the pick of the team up to now. Larsson is 100% not suspended for tomorrow, though some fantasy football sites having down as being just that. We haven't necessarily played badly too often this season. There have often been many encouraging signs and some very good play, just with no end result. We're constantly being caught out through not taking our chances, a problem which must be rectified soon. Ideally by playing a striker, perhaps..but that'd be far too sensible for Steve Bruce to do. Rumours he'll start Connor Wickham tomorrow but I gave up trying to predict his teams long ago. He might put Wickham at CB...
As for you, I think you should be going into this demanding a win, to be honest. Taking on a team in a slump like we are, at home...
Apologies for long post, just thought I'd give an insight into how things are up here at the minute. Looking forward to tomorrow, we have a fair few coming down so hope it's a good atmosphere and an even better game!
Prediction... optimistically a 1-1 draw, with a Sessegnon strike and N'Gog for you.
All the best!

Welcome JWH!
This should be 3 points but we've not won at home for a bit, even in the Carling Cup against Villa was away. As we're at home we have all the pressure that comes with that and everyone knows how we've dealt with pressure recently. Pessimistic but would love to be proved wrong.

That matters, how?
Pressure will be on, but hopefully can carry on the momentum from last Saturday.

I heard the end of a bit with OC on t'radio earlier. I missed the question from the interviewer so no idea what it was about but OC was saying something about quality. Could have been talking about the GB football team at the olympics, the home match against Sunderland or what's happening in the middle east. It was on the normal news so you'd think it was 1 or 3.

Welcome, man. Thanks for noticing our 'shocking' start to the season and comparing it to yours. Yep, we've had a tough old start, yet it's never mentioned on MOTD. They just like saying how s hit we are. I'm thinking you're probably, and rightly, more worried than us at present. If you lose tomorrow, you'll more than likely lose your manager too. Such are the vagaries of football. But from your post, I think maybe, just maybe, Sunderland fans wouldn't mind that, and I can't blame you for that. I've always thought of him as a div 2 manager and just wish that OC had the money available to him that SB was given. Good luck for tomorrow, but I foresee a 3-1 Wanderers win.

Re: Wanderers v The Delusional (Mackems)
Good post JWH, and welcome. Always happy to see sensible stuff from opposition fans. Our own game depends as much on defence as attack and, although we've had a nightmare start we have to treat all games the same from now on, ie, go for the points. We played well enough last week and are looking for more of the same. Here's to a good game and, hopefully, a win, however narrow for us. Best of.

Right then, just won a corporate box for this one with ten places, and been presented with all manner of excuses from my mates like "I'm in Morocco", or "I'm meeting my union rep"...etc. Selfish b@stards!
Got 2 places left, anyone interested? PM me...much rather these went to Bolton fans than anyone else...starts at 1pm, free drink (ish) and 3 course meal inlcuded, all from 188bet's corporate box!! 100% free!
Who says gambling doesn't pay off!
You'll have to be able to be at The Reebok before 1pm, and unfortunately the bar closes at 5:30pm...

Will be watching this one in Saigon, a far more pleasant time zone for EPL viewing than Melbourne. I think it's a 9pm kick off here. I'm doubting the match will be on the hotel cable, so can anyone suggest a football friendly bar here that shows all games? Otherwise I'll have to go the dodgy spanish commentated internet stream.
