I am utterly convinced whatever team we pick will see whatever team they pick wearing Arsenal shirts and collapse. I just hope it isn't embarrassing, like most other matches since March. We look at the opposition name for about 5 matches and don't even bother, Arsenal are one of these teams.
Roll over and get our bellies tickled, even if Wenger plays his sixth formers.

thats as bad as him not thinking muamba is good enough.CrazyHorse wrote:Coyle: "They'll be a number of changes for the cup. Adam Bogdan, Zat Knight, Mark Davies, Ivan Klasnic; these kind of players will feature."

Don't mind any of those playing, except for Knight.a1 wrote:thats as bad as him not thinking muamba is good enough.CrazyHorse wrote:Coyle: "They'll be a number of changes for the cup. Adam Bogdan, Zat Knight, Mark Davies, Ivan Klasnic; these kind of players will feature."

Think A1 means they sound like second class citizens, though I'd never be too sure.
I reckon it just means those who haven't played much recently.

it come across like that , yeah, but i were more thinking that those players are better than the ones he's been playing.
three of those players should play swansea next saturday. (i'm not counting bogdan)
i know that means i've given playing time to zat knight. but i still cannot believe the endless waves of players running at him in the liverpool game , and that he only conceded three. it were like he were the only defender.

Re: Arsenal v Bolton - Carling Cup 4th round
Who'd you have Mark Davies in for A1? I'd have Moo and Nireoker as middle two. If we were playing well I'd like to see him wide left, but a) that could massively backfire, and now isn't the time for pissing about with theories, and b) he'd need a flying full back outside him.
Back four should be Boyata, Cahill, Wheater and ANother who would preferably be one of Ricketts or Gardner fitness permitting but would otherwise have to be Robinson. Up front it is N'Gog and ANother, be it an out and out striker (Klasnic) or an extra body in midfield (Pratley/Mark Davies).
The problem at the moment seems to be we don't actually have a plan. Even without the injured players, the personnel we have are easily good enough to be mid-table, but there is no coherence either going forward, or defensively. Certainly need to stop pissing about with the back four.

Stop? But you've just reccommended changing the back four again! What do you mean by pissing about with the back four? Swapping Knight for Wheater and dropping Steinsson?Prufrock wrote:Certainly need to stop pissing about with the back four.
I was with OC when he said that he wasn't ever going to go away from home and play for a draw, however 4-4-2 is seeing us get too many kickings. I think we need to go 4-5-1 for certain games depending on home/away and opposition. It will also make us less predictable.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Arsenal v Bolton - Carling Cup 4th round
That's three, maybe four of the back that has played for the last two weeks, but before that got chopped and changed constantly, sometimes at half time. That team is what I'd pick, but I think it is important that Coyle decides his best back four and sticks with it.
Before that we had Steinsson, then Boyata, then Steinsson with Boyata at centre half. We had Knight in, then out for Wheater, then in, then out for Boyata, then on at half time, then out for Wheater.

Re: Arsenal v Bolton - Carling Cup 4th round
i'd 4-5-1 it sammy allardyce style with the 4-3-3 mod.
dont like picking the team, but i'd play ngog as the forward, tuncay and kevin davies (?) on the wings , coker muamba mark davies in the middle so it wont give cahill the excuse to leave the other defender on his own. definately need that - 'wingers that are forwards too' thing too.
dont know if zat knight has ever played full back, but wheater has (at right back). i'd make either derek or wheater play on the wrong side , just to give robinson some friggin' respite (?).
so , somethin' like
jussi
wheater knight cahill drederick
davies , coker , mark davies , muamba , tuncay
n'gog
yeah . for swansea away.
for arsenal in the cup, not bothered , do enough to get beat but learn why big teams are up high, and why sunderland should be beatable by comparision.

Re: Arsenal v Bolton - Carling Cup 4th round
Why do we need to play Zat Knight? To confirm he is a feck* fanny?
Why not let our third (fourth?) centre back pairing of the season bed in a little?
I get playing someone like Mark Davies, or trying Klasnic and Ngog, but Cahill/Wheater is probably our best performing centre half partnership so give it time.
There aint much difference ability wise between Wheater and Knight actually, its just that Wheater actually has a pair of bollocks!

Boyata, according to the official site, is ineligible for this game. Even if he was eligible, he wouldn't be fit in time.

Re: Arsenal v Bolton - Carling Cup 4th round
i'm in West London on business for the next couple of days and i'm thinking of heading to the game tomorrow night but can anyone give me a rough idea of the travelling time (by car) between Hayes and the Emirates. Also, what are the usual parking arrangements around the ground? Lastly and I guess most importantly will it be pay at the gate? Sorry for all the Qs

Parking around the ground is poor, you'd be best off leaving your car elsewhere and tubing it to Arsenal station tbh.
Tickets don't often go on general sale though I believe this one has. Not sure about getting tickets in the Bolton end but if you're hoping to get tickets on the day maybe give the Arsenal box office a call beforehand to see if that's possible. You'll find details of the number etc on the Arsenal website - http://www.arsenal.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The ticket office is right next to The Armoury shop. And if you fancy meeting for a drink you'd be welcome at The Drayton Park pub, 6.30!

Thanks for the advice GG! Judging by the RAC route planner it's about 19 miles so may head to Hillingdon tube station and head in via the tube.Gooner Girl wrote:Parking around the ground is poor, you'd be best off leaving your car elsewhere and tubing it to Arsenal station tbh.
