Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I was really sad to see that. I attended for two years as a full-time pupil, then did day and night school from my works after leaving. Got my City and Guilds from "the tech" and had many a laugh and happy hour there. Bolton Tech had three venues then, Manny Road, Bridgeman Street ( the two floors over the baths) and Chadwick House further down near Bradford Street. It was more than just a school with all the apprencice courses in plumbing, building, joinery, electrics etc, that they ran day and evening classes for.. They even had a cinema at one time where you could spend the odd free period. Another, "end of an era" .Bruce Rioja wrote:They're pulling down Manny Road Tech.

I think it's because they've just built a bloody big new modern one nearby. Did my B/Tec business studies there in '85-'87

Having a torn tendon in my hip. Been in real pain & struggling for 6 weeks, thought it was part of my ongoing spinal problem, so spent the last 6 weeks trying to stretch it out, until it became unbearable to walk on, even using heavy meds. I've just been making it worse. Fecker...............Ironicaly caused by too much stretching............

That is what you call 'thinking big'.
£161m VAT scam (yes tat's £161 MILLION !!) by people who didn't even have a VAT account .... and were claiming both Working Tax Credit AND Unemployment benifit all at one time, while putting the kids through private schools and looking into buying a Roller.
I'm tempted to applaud !!

You'd think that with all the cash they seemingly had, she'd be able to get a personal trainer!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Quite surprised that none of you are at all angry about the government spending £750,000 on tickets for the Olympics.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I'm not especially concerned at that, thoug may become so ... it really depends what they do with these tickets.Bruce Rioja wrote:Quite surprised that none of you are at all angry about the government spending £750,000 on tickets for the Olympics.
I'm more concerned that 'hey presto ... & there they are' when the free & fair ballot allocation process failed to provide the average punter with any.
Now I'm being inundated with offers to get ones for the Parolympics which, incredible personal achievements of the contestants notwithstanding, are NOT the same, no matter what the marketeers keep telling us.
Hey, I have an idea ... if they are the same why not swap te Government & VIP ones ?

On a roughly related note, the AIBA (Amateur International Boxing Association) is trying to get female boxers to wear skirts, not shorts to compete in. Ridiculous.

I'm angry at local MP's! not from the area they represent just parachuted in by the politically correct labour party because the pig's head in red has been traditional round here! Well boys Iddon had his own personal following, your girl is screwing up and demographics are changing rapidly. Last time it was owt but the tory's next time we are after your votes!

No, quite surprised.thebish wrote:are you angry that other people aren't angry about it?
And a little disappointed too, in one or two cases, I must confess. I was quite hoping for more of the usual seething bile from the likes of BWFCI as to how the men's 100 metre final will be ran exclusively in front of past and present members of The Bullingdon Club and so on.
Though I am myself thoroughly pissed off though that in times of supposed belt-fastening the Government can find £750,000 of our money to spunk on Olympic tickets. And, having bypassed the public ballot are happy to rub our noses in it on every conceivable level.
And yes, yes. I know, I know.....
