We could try and summarise?Wandering Willy wrote:Oh God - we've got another 12 days to sort this out.
Plenty of folk (myself included) are delighted with the win on Sunday.
I have a view, that unless it's backed up with a win and a draw in our next two games, then our position relative to the league table won't have changed much in terms of improved league position (but only time will tell), and regardless of the current elation at getting a particular monkey off our backs, it was still only one game, largely different to our performances during the rest of the season so far, and with a team/formation that OC seems to have railed against (two "holding" MF's) up until last Sunday.
I will happily declare the corner turned, when we're actually round it and through into the straight. My belief currently is that we haven't turned any corner, but Sunday's win, attitude and formation shows we approached it a lot better than the week before.
It does beg the question as to what changed behind the scenes, other than the formation, or why OC believed that Eagles, Pratley, Petrov and NRC constituted a good idea for a midfield.
I'd just like to add.

I'd agree with (I think) absolutely everything Worthy says, particularly on the important stuff, but he is wrong about 'within three points'. If we are three points away from somebody, they are within three points. Within means 'not beyond the limits of'. Somebody whose means are X, and who lives according to X, lives within their means.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Time to go
Just a thought. The team that started Sunday was very similar to the team that would have played last season. Only NRC, Eagles and Riley were new players from this year.
It could be a argument that the players that were playing just weren't in sync yet. Hence why Pratley looks like a fish out of water sometimes. and not quite used to N'gog runs.

Re: Time to go
He will never be a Stuart Holden but if you watch him if often finds some good positions but is never passed to. Hence why i think Coyle has been playing him behind N'gog recently but it a complete new front line that haven't played with each other, not even in pre-season. Which why i think Klasnic and Davies did so well on sunday. Having played with a lot of the lads previously. We had a small squad last year which can often not always be a bad thing if you play the same 11 each week. We have only started the same 11 twice i believe. Man City after the QPR win and Sunderland after the Wigan win.

I hope they've drawn up the contract.hi there, i'm chris wrote:If we beat Stoke 5-0 then Coyle can have a life time contract.Il Pirate wrote:m_taylor wrote:One last game vs Stoke next week for me. I was so pleased to see the appointment of Coyle and last season (up to the semi) was by far the best i have seen. Last game for me next sunday. Come on Coyle.
Even a 5-0 victory next week would not negate the fact we are a poor, poor side. We have shown relegation form since last march. We are inept at doing the simplest of things. We can't defend, we have no midfield, we don't score enough goals. On present form we will be down by New Year. We can't afford to wait that long. We can't afford to wait until next week.

Back to square one!!! and we will soon be looking at a gap the size of the Atlantic if we don't pick up max points from the next two and I doubt that!

Re: Time to go
Coyle was completely out thought at half time today. Shorey pushed up and exposed Mark Davies! Their back line stepped up and exposed our lack of pace upfront! Basic stuff. Coyle had no clue as ever! Fool!

Re: Time to go
Give Coyle the transfer window and the return of Holden, Ricketts & CYL (hopefully) and we'll be reet...

Re: Time to go
Holden isn't due back till May! Keep this run up and we'll be on about 20 points then and relegated! Chungy, March?
If I'm being generous he has till what Megson got - After Christmas. But Megson turned in a manager of the month performance before that...more likely he has a few matches, tops. Its fecking basic the stuff that is going wrong now. Clueless.

Re: Time to go
We could easily be too far gone by January! And his transfers so far haven't exactly shone have they? 4M quid striker can't shift freebie Klasnic and old man Davies from the side!Harry Genshaw wrote:Give Coyle the transfer window and the return of Holden, Ricketts & CYL (hopefully) and we'll be reet...

Re: Time to go
I'm trying by best with Ngog. I thought he was a shocking player at Liverpool but I thought I'd give him a second chance at Bolton. He looked OK in his first few games but for me he just doesn't really do anything. I don't think he's the answer, we need a loan striker in in January.

Re: Time to go
I'd rather eat my hair than have HWSNBN back.
That said, after 12 games in 2009/10, we had 11 points, scored 15 conceded 26, were 3rd bottom, but on level points with 4th bottom and with a game in hand (although as I pointed out at the time, that game was Arsenal (A) iirc). I also said we were pretty clueless and it was time a parting of the ways.
We'd played 7 out of the top 10 from the season before - this season, after all the blathering about the fixtures, we've played 6 of last year's top 10, and all the promoted teams.
Just to make everyone feel really great, HWSNBN, lost one more match from this position until he got sacked at the end of December.
Roll forwards a couple of years.
We've scored 4 more.
And now the negatives.
We've conceded 3 more
Have two points less
Are two points adrift of 17th
Don't have the game in hand
Looks bleak to me. I certainly don't see anything "better" this season than I saw in 2009/10. Unlike 2009, I don't want to get shut of the manager (was happy to see the back of the last one), but I think he's got to go, unless something dramatic happens soon, starting with a win next week. Can't see it though. As WtW knows all too well, Everton are our bogiest of bogey teams - They're the only team in the Prem that have better results over Bolton at Burnden/Bok than Bolton have over Everton.
