They're Kylie's. He only needs to fit them on his head.Gooner Girl wrote:Excellent, i'll be round to Enfield to pick them up in an hour or so.Gary the Enfield wrote:I'll ask Kylie if I can have them back.Gooner Girl wrote:Funnily enough, I'm only doing 5km... I like your gold ones better then my boring black ones. Can I borrow?!
If they fit Kylie i'm reckoning they might be a little tight on you...

Well, I called her and asked if I could have them back. You know what she said, the selfish mare? She said ''I should be so lucky''

Ahhh well, not sure gold hotpants would suit me anyway, my arse isn't quite as good as Kylies!! Sure they would look far more fetching on you, GtE.

But this doesn't solve my issues of what to wear!

And just as you hear your Mrs come through the front door you'll be hopping round the bedroon saying "I just can't get you off of my head...."Gary the Enfield wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:They're Kylie's. He only needs to fit them on his head.

Indian, African, Caucasian, Scandinavian, Native American, Mediterranean. (mmmmmmmm Spanish)
I have never had a 'type' really.
Re: The athletics/running thread
Yeh, I'm with you on that. I wear Inov8s, but I'm not sure which type as I bought three pairs about 4 years ago.Harry Genshaw wrote:Either or GG. Just dont try and do it in trail shoes. I did a passable impression of my dog on the laminate floor when the Postman comes in when trying it in trails.Gooner Girl wrote:Spikes or trainers for cross country? Anyone? And if spikes, what length do i need for cross country? I only have short ones for Triple Jumping.
Now, I wear Inov8 mudclaws. I cant praise em enough.
I think mine are this sort...

Think of it as a Butternut squash puree and a shallot.
Yum.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Here's an excellent week-by-week breakdown of it.thebish wrote:ok...
I figured there might be others reading this thread who (like me) are frankly boggled by the idea of a 10mile "recovery" run - or the idea of running 5K in under 3 hours... never mind running up and down hills - or adding swimming and cycling to the mix!!
so - I have summat to recommend.
the NHS "Couch to 5K" program. (It's free - your taxes have paid for it!!!)
the idea is to take you from "couch" (ie - total slobdom) to being able to run for 30mins (or about 5K) in 9 weeks of exercise.
you run 3 days a week - and each week it goes up a notch. (for the first week you only run in 1min bursts with 90secs of recovery walking in between!) I am just starting week 5 - which has me running for 3 or 4 bursts of 5mins with 3min recovery walks in between)
in other words - it is gently graded through the weeks....
I can recommend it - because the missus is on week 8 - and had actually NEVER run for more than 5 minutes in her entire life until she started the program - now she is comfortably running for 29mins non-stop.
(I have some catching up to do...)
I DID have a little background fitness - I haven't been a slob all my life - but I have been for a good few years now... but it is not killing me - and I can see I am making progress from week to week.
the way it works is that you download the podcasts - Laura - and load it onto a mobile audio-playing device of some description - and she tells you when to run and when to stop - a bit like having your own personal trainer... (occasionally she says you are doing "great" - though, how she knows that, I am not sure...)
anyway - as I said - your taxes have paid for it - it is free!!! (there is also a very active forum attached where people talk about cramp and what to wear and how to deal with common injuries and stuff!)
all of these running gods and goddesses had to start somewhere!

Not that you'd catch me running around the houses, like?!

Re: The athletics/running thread
completed week 6 now - just 3 to go - and today I ran 25mins non-stop.. (Laura told me I am now officially a "runner"!
)
I've been exploring what I might do after finishing - and am seriously considering parkrun - which looks ace!
it's in a local(ish) park - it's free - it's 5k in the company of others - and they time you so that each week you can push for a pb (I think they use some kind of barcode system) - all of them seem to be on saturday mornings at 9am... all run by volunteers...

Yep, g'luck GG.
Just got back from my running club's monthly 5k handicap race. New PB (by 27 seconds) of 21.04

Great run. Now to break 21 minutes.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Thanks for the good wishes Bish and GtE.
It was a hard race even though only it was only 5km. Was set in the foot of the South Downs, there was a biting wind and lots of clogging mud, puddles, bogs, ploughed fields and cow poo to negotiate. Was glad i wore spikes!
Not sure of my final position or time yet as had to dash off quite fast afterwards (and i don't really want to know - it was rubbish.) However i finished - and wasn't last - though probably not very far from the back! Actually, out of the 6 Haywards Heath Harriers ladies competing i was the first Harrier home so that was nice, even if our star endurance athletes tend to not bother competing in a 5km Cross Country!
Anyway, first cross country in over a decade completed. I now know why i should stick to triple jump!
