If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

sorry to hear it mate... hope they caught it in time... (if so - the prognosis is often more positive than people fear...)

Lousy luck. The worst thing seem to happen to the best people. Hope she pulls through it.

My sympathies Bruce. My mum's just come through breast cancer. It does seem the earlier it's caught the better chances of a complete recovery

Similar story here for my mum. Caught early and now all clear. Hope there's a similar success for your mate's wife, Bruce.

Here too, with my missus, had it a couple of years ago. Initial reaction is to shit it and think it's the end of the world. Caught early enough, still a pisser, but not necessarily terminal and the longer term prognosis is pretty good and improving by the year. Best of luck to your mate and his missus, mate.

Work E-Mails.

Not all of them, but the one that came out from Board Level today urging us to take time to watch the "personal message to you from [CEO]" posted on the intranet.

How the feck can it be a personal message if it's posted on the intranet to x00,000 employees?

Competing radio stations that don't bother to compete. Last night in the car 5Live had commentary of City's game, I thought - I know, I'll just flick on to Talk Shit and Piss to see if the DMB's are losing, only to find that they were also running commentary from City's game.
Then, this evening in the car again and 5Live have commentary from Chelsea's game, so I flick over onto Talk Shit and Piss to find out how the Gooners are getting on only to find that they too have commentary from the Chelsea game.

Well thank-you you bunch of knuckleheads. Of course, the burden of responsibility lies with Talk Shit and Piss who require a USP to generate premium advertising revenue around Champions league ties. Surely there isn't a media buyer worth his salt that's spunking his client's brass on something that can be freely listened to elsewhere, and, that doesn't have the Romfordian drawl of that prick that looks like Charlie Dimmock polluting the airwaves!!!

In which case, surely the beeb as a public broadcaster should be looking at the commercial station and delibaretly not mirroring their content? I don't understand why it has to follow that our publicly funded broadcaster (which I agree with and like) should have to compete? It seems non-sensical, indeed there are clearly going to be many big games at that level involving English Clubs, why not find out what the other channel are covering and cover another game.

I agree with your anger Bruce, but I'm not sure I agree with the conclusion.

I secretly copied the snd recorder but got yelled at and had to delete it.

I was an idiot for doing that

But the BBC station doesn't need the audience figures for its very survival in the same way that the commercial station does. It's income's guaranteed regardless of which game it covers. The onus therefore rests with the commercial station to provide something worth specifically tuning into it for. Regarding finding another channel, without the benefit of a digital radio in the car, which most people don't have, then when it comes to finding radio coverage of games that fall outside of one's region those two stations are pretyy much your lot.

Yes, our previous two have been sacked. One for an Ethics and Compliance problem, the other for managing to half the share price - All within 12 months or so.

I'm getting concerned it'll be my go next.

I get the whole non competition thing Bruce, but then they go and ruin it all. Today I'm angry that The Beeb and ITV have scheduled Strictly and Downton at the same time on Christmas Day.

No, I can't believe I've just typed that either.......................... :( :(

My two penn'orth.

I had a son once. He was born with a congenital heart defect. He had a Truncus Arteriosus type 1 with complications (look it up if you want it's too complicated to explain) He had heart surgery at six weeks old. We helped him through the first few days which turned into weeks which turned into months. We had days when we didn't know if we could continue and days of absolute joy (his first smile is burned into my memory)

The months then became a year and every day he got that little bit stronger. We started to talk about longer term goals like nursery school and then primary and all the while this bundle of horrendous joy grew bigger and stronger.

He attended Great Ormond Street Hospital for most of his care. At first they saw him monthly and then, because he was doing so well, six monthly. He was approaching his third birthday when a routine check up showed that there was another problem and his heart was working too hard. Surgery had to be organised and the only time they could do it was two days before his 3rd birthday. We had his party the week before. He died in surgery. We registered his death on his birthday. I don't need to tell you it was the worst time of my life. I loved every single second of his life. Some of it I hated at the same time.

Why am I telling you this? We didn't know he was ill until he was born and so we dealt with the problem as it was presented to us. The parents in this story knew in advance there was a problem and chose to deal with it in the way they did.

I feel sorry for their loss. Both the healthy and unhealthy child. But moreso for the fact that they wouldn't know the joy (and agony) of giving both their children every opportunity to have the best quality of life they could.

This isn't an anti abortion message. It's just my experience.

I'll make a small specualtion: Occasionally, in your calling, you attend the odd Church social evening where you get up and give the wife a twirl around the floor. Deny it if you will, or dare.
