Was right behind this in the west stand, this plus the last minute penalty at Eastlands, probably my best memories of the Speed

very sad news indeed.

He was such a good professional, a great leader and set by example. He was so inspirational whilst he was a Wanderer. Would we have got in Europe without him?
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,

Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Bolton have made a statement

http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1 ... 84,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bolton Wanderers is deeply saddened to hear of the death of former player and Club captain Gary Speed and wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his family.

Chairman Phil Gartside said, "We are all stunned at the news of Gary.

"Not only was he a top class professional but was a wonderful person who is very fondly remembered by all of us and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family at this time."

Still in shock after hearing this.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Infact they seem to avoid mentioning Bolton at all.

The Leeds, Everton and Newcastle midfielder.

Such a shock to hear this. Did himself proud wherever he went.

Maybe there was a story coming out that was going to tarnish his image. SO many years playing the golden boy only to have his reputation slurred like Giggs'. Maybe he thought he couldn't take it. It's hard to imagine the coping mechanisms a player has in his situation, its not like he's taken loads of abuse over the years so something like that would more than likely really upset him.

Lack of involvement in day to day football will bound to take some sort of serious affect on him, many a player haven't coped with it well (Gazza). Such a shame to hear its had to come to this for him. He was doing really well for the Welsh national team.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Whatever his reasoning behind this, its definitely a loss for everyone.

Does anybody have a video of the overhead kick goal he scored for us?

I think it was against West Ham.

Exactly.

Still stunned by the news. Must have been in an emotionally dark place, feel for his kids.
