Interesting how the I'd-rather-see-us-relegated-than-watch-this-utter-shite has now disappeared! :?
I don't think I've ever said that.....
Wasn't aimed at you specifically, it was more a general point.
Well there are still people who would rather us go down with Coyle than see us appoint a more "pragmatic" manager.

So I guess they are still there......

Name them.

That's where I'm at. Playing 2/3rds of a match with less players against a team with £10 Million and £15 Million midfielders (works on a shoe string you know) and a defence that cost roughly £20 Million to assemble, is a big ask.. At home or not.

Strange on Saturday was the selection of Wheater at rb ahead of Steinson then ever stranger to move Reo Coker there. First half Davo lost Baines 3 or 4 times same happened 2nd half . Our tactic at the start of the 2nd half seemed to give the ball to Jussi who smacked it vaguely towards Davo where Fellaini was waiting to head it back towards our goal. He did this 10 times in the first 5 mins of the 2nd half, 9 times Fellaini won the header the other time Davo headed it towards Everton goal where Howard picked it up.

We look devoid of ideas and confidence at the minute. With the players that Coyle signed not looking Prem standard we are struggling to change it

Good point BB.

I thought it was over after the red but we showed some great fight and effort after the card and even at 1-0 looked like we might snatch a point. Second goal killed us and tiredness set in. Big improvement on the second half effort vs West Brom.

I thought we were shocking second half. First half we did ok. Second half we just dropped off, let them score and then looked absolutely clueless as to what to do.

It is tough when you've got 10 men...

However, perhaps playing a lumbering centre half at right back, wasn't the best plan in the world.....

I don't think the position Wheater was playing in had any bearing on the sending off.

The fact that he seemed to have trampolines on his boots was the main factor!

Absolutely - a foul on the half way line, utterly gratuitous and stupid, but nowt to do with being played at RB...

I've seen plenty of teams go down to ten men, including us. I can't remember any that completely rolled over the way we did. FWIW, I thought we looked like the away team from kick-off.

And at least one of the players they bought for big money is utter shite.

There is of course the very real possibility that Steinsson was not fit enough to start. In normal circumstances he may not have been included on the bench but given the injuries and lack of cover perhaps OC told him "Look Gretar you're not ready to start but I need you on the bench in case of emergency". Makes more sense to try to give Steinsson extra time to get fit and not use him unless absolutely necessary.

Of course, that doesn't fit into the "OC's clueless he doesn't know what he's doing" stance.

I don't wish to gatecrash the party here, but I thought it had been established that Steinsson was shite? What the f*ck was he going to do?

Does it now fit the narrative that he's ace or something?

Robbo has stated in the BEN that Coleman should have been off as well for an elbow. Anyone see what happened and is it just wishful thinking?

And I'm with LK on this, everyone slating Steinsson and then suddenly insisting that he would have been able to stop Billy the Fish and not also been sent off with a similar tackle.

I think I might be one of those people. 11 players free in summer and he'll have somewhat of a chance to build a team himself, maybe dipping into the American market

Happened right in front of me, clear elbow to the side of Robbo's head, Coleman realised what he'd done and started to hold his own head as in "clash of heads ref honest" !! In tonight's BN it says that at half time the ref saw the incident on video and admitted he'd made a mistake. Strange thing is if he (ref) thought that the challenge was fair why did he give us a free kick??
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

I've never said Steinsson was shit. Even if you did you would have had to say that he was so bad Wheater there and Knight at CB would be better to be a talking shit. Steinsson has his faults but he is not the worst right back ever, in fact he is certainly a better RB than Wheater is. Added to that playing Wheater there meant breaking up the only highlight of recent games, the Cahill-Wheater partnership AND playing Zat fecking Knight. It was a clueless decision. Even if Steinsson was only fit for the bench, Reo-Coker there would have been a better option. I do actually think playing Wheater there caused the red card, though only partially along with a stupid decision from Wheater himself. He had got drawn into the centre to receive the ball and decided he needed to dribble wide to be a 'RB'. If he'd been playing CB I don't think he would have had that touch. All speculation of course, but what I am fairly certain of is had he been playing where he fecking should he wouldn't have been there in the first place.

I think I'm in a minority of one, but I still think Steinsson is our best right back. Or at least, not noticeably worse than the rest. In any case, him being relegated to 7th choice led to both Wheater and Reo-Coker playing out of position, so for that alone it was a shit decision.
