Sod the football, condolences to his family especially his kids who may never understand their loss of a father.
RIP Gary I doubt any of us will ever understand.

Never get into an argument with an idiot. i'll bring you down to my level and beat you with experience
Re: RIP Gary Speed
big yes to the sentiment... but the "let's win it for Nat" calls, when he died, were rewarded with a thumping defeat (IIRC). I think I'd rather leave players to express their own emotions as they see fit - I wouldn't want top see Coyle build this up as in anyway "for" Speedo...plymouth wanderer wrote: let's just win the game for speedo on saturday

Re: RIP Gary Speed
I think the club will do something before kick off against villa next sat, similar to the nat tributes before the chelsea game. Like many have said we may never know the reason why he took his own life, i know one of his sons is a very good footballer so hopefully he will follow in his dad's footsteps and become a footballing legend.

Nottingham Forest 0 Leeds United 4

Leeds kicked off what promises to be a long goodbye to Gary Speed with an emotional and impressive win at Nottingham Forest.
Manager Simon Grayson, who forged a lifelong friendship with Speed after they signed schoolboy forms with Leeds on the same day when they were 14, asked his players to win the game in Speed's memory.

Did you anyone else hear that the Leeds fan sang 'There is only one Gary Speed' on the 11th minute for 11 minutes in honor?2399 wrote:Nottingham Forest 0 Leeds United 4

RIP Gary Speed.
He really transformed the team when he came. I was definitely hoping he'd turn Wales around, just because of how much I liked him. Just sad.

It mark me down as a bit of a numb bugger, but I'm still finding it hard to take in the fact that Gary Speed is no longer with us.
I hope our fans do us proud down at The Lane, and give him an appropriate send off. No matter how few you are, he bought in to our club, keep singing for him. 2 dozen or two thousand, doesn't matter.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
Maybe worth putting a Speed pic on the front page, chaps? Like we did when Lofty sadly passed away.
I say we.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
I've been away this week so this is my first chance to post on the subject.
Absolutely stunned when I heard the news. We all know what a great player he was for us and I can't think of a single game I saw him play (for any club) where he didn't give a MotM performance.
I was disappointed that many clubs went for the 'minutes applause' route surely even United fans could obey a minutes silence for a player that despite playing for Leeds was still one of the greats of British football.
Is it 'silence' or 'applause' tomorrow?

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
Hopefully silence.. But the applause does seem to be the done thing at the moment.
In fairness, before the Swansea Villa game and the Arsenal City game, the spontaneous chanting of his name put a tingle right down my spine

Re: RIP Gary Speed
Its whatever the fans seem fitting i prefer the mins silence but i think it will be applause because once one club does it everybody else copies, utd fans are use to 90mins silence at old trafford so one minute won't be a problemcoffeymagic wrote:I've been away this week so this is my first chance to post on the subject.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
I prefer a minutes applause based on the fact that its proactive. I've clapped and cheered Gary Speed many times, it just seems more appropriate to do it one more time given the arena he made his living in. To me.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
The clapping also drowns out the one fecking idiot who thinks it's funny or cool to shout something during the minutes silence.
I'm happy with either.
