Possibly - but the fact is he didn't did he, he lost control and then had to bring the player down.
'tis a fickle world, Peter... had he hoofed it into row Z (as per your advice) - a section of the crowd would have been on his back for not doing summat more creative...

had he brought the player down (as he did) - and a free kick followed and the game continued - none of us would even have remembered the incident... so - crime of the century, it isn't! (at least, not on Cahill's part!)

Bish....admittedly I'm probably far more fickle than most, but I never said anything about Row Z did I ? - could he not just have passed it to another Bolton player, and even if he did hoof it into row Z I doubt if many would have had a go for not being creative -after all he's a centre half not a midfielder

Rightly or wrongly - I think he was trying to impress potential suitors ahead of his probable Jan move (one of which is Harry Redknapp) - if it would have come of, it would have looked good to Harry I'm sure

I think that might be a theory too far for me! Are you suggesting that Cahill had a thought process similar to the following:

hmmmmm.. what shall I do?
sensible thing would be to pass it to a team mate..
safest thing might be to whack it into row Z...
but... Harry's here and I'd like to be playing with those guys..
hmmmm..
I know - I'll pretend to be Beckenbauer
oh - bugger!

:conf:

surely it's far more likely that the following is what happened..

Gary tried summat that 90 times out of 100 would be fine - it wasn't summat he needed to do that much thinking about - but it went wrong - stuff goes wrong sometimes - he recovered the situation with a foul and was mystifyingly and unpredictably sent off.

Assou-Ekotto tried it twice, first worked, second Klasnic read it but nothing came of it.

To say that was part of Gary's thought process, to impress a potential buyer, is fecking ludicrous!

Its just an opinion - that's all no one has to agree with it, so why is it ludicrous ?

The only person who knows whether he was trying to impress potential buyers is Gary Cahill - perhaps he was or perhaps he had no such thoughts - but either way its done now we have to move on....

True, its an opinion, but do you honestly really think that's what went through his mind?

Yes personally I do - he's being touted around to all and sundry, so his mind can't be 100% focused on Bolton - sure he wants us to win, but he knows he's likely to move in Jan and Harry had been saying nice things about him before the game.

He's young and he's human, he probably does the drag back quite easily in training, so why not try and impress an interested manager or other scouts who are specifically looking at him, as Bish said if it had come of he would have looked good - unfortunately it didn't.

It's your opinion to which you're entitled to, but I think you are completely wrong.

yeah... we all realise it's a bit shit - but, seriously - what do you actually EXPECT the players and the chairman to say when they are interviewed??

maybe you should go on one of those them there media studies courses - it'll sort out a lot of confusion!

To be honest I'm sick of them saying 'we will put it right next week' they've been saying that for what 9 months now?

If I hear one more time how nice Coyle is.....

In Knights case though, I think hed be best advised to keep his useless trap shut.

So I'm meant to be happy about 4 league wins since April?

Christ sakes.

And your point would be more relevant if I've always been negative and 'miserable' about Bolton. But clearly that has not been the case.
