Ah.. The Christmas tree formation.
Made famous by Mike Bassett, England manager? That 4-1-2-1-2?
Still... with the players named there.. It's pretty much a nailed on 4-1-5

Wouldn't like to see your christmas tree Boris

4-3-2-1 would be the old christmas tree

with my suggested 4-1-2-1-2 you have 4 defenders with a defensive and attacking mid your l/r mid and your strikers..
Didn't realise it was so alien

We can't defend when we have a fcuking corner so defending the other lots ones is gonna be hard work
Stop yapping about it..it's pointless...hes shite, we're shite, we're down

It's like a weight off my shoulders and I've now reset my expectation bar, to the setting "shite"
I now feel like our current Manager will be able to acheive this, which is a lose/win scenario for all concerned.
Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
It'#s easier to take
Worst thing is, the nice person will get us to win on Saturday and the hope rises again
Only to receive the usual kick to the slats for the next 6 weeks

Where are all the ones saying 'when we are through the tough fixtures we will be fine'...
Actually they're now the ones saying 'what can you expect with our resources'

I could expect better than Norwich, better then Swansea, better than Wigan, better than Wigan.BWFC_Insane wrote:I did that 2 weeks ago! Apparently we can't do this because of leaves on the line, or the wrong sort of snow, or something similar.

May I borrow your transport to this alternate reality where it'll be reet?
Tardis is it? Or something similar?

I think you're right to have expected us to be better then the 3 above. It's still early but we're in trouble no doubt.
You can belittle the reasons that have been offered for our poor form but the fact remains that we have played 5 games with 10 men for a half or more. For me it's difficult to guage the team when we are consistently down a man, and I am sure that the players struggle when they are unable to get into any rhythm to get a run together.
There had been much discussion elsewhere about the style our play and moving into space etc, but it's nigh on impossible to judge formations and style when we haven't had a settled team with 11 on the pitch.
As a matter of interest I wonder if you are aware of any stats re performance with 10 men for half a game. Perhaps they would prove that it's not just because the manger is shite?
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
Poor man last, rich man first.
Poor man last, rich man first.
Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Against Arsenal we were doing OK, but were on the way to a defeat
Against Norwich and Everton we were second best with 11
Spurs, game was already over
Swansea is probably the most contentious of the lot, but in my view it was a defeat regardless as we'd been ripped open a few times first half
To blame our woes on the red cards is just a poor attempt to mask the real issues
All the red cards have highlighted is his naivety...you're under the cosh, and need legs in the team , so he takes off Muamba
He can get fcuked

Continually having players sent off is something the manager should be doing something about.
Anyways I think that's excuse number 345, what's next?

can you fill some of the following big white space telling us what Coyle could possibly done in advance of Cahill getting sent off on Saturday to stop it happening?BWFC_Insane wrote:Continually having players sent off is something the manager should be doing something about.

ahhh - I see - had someone else passed it to Cahill, he'd not have committed a foul and the ref would not have had a total brainfart?CAPSLOCK wrote:Not picked Knight...he passed it to Cahill

If Cahill had just played a simple ball up the line to another Bolton player and not try and play like Franz Beckenbauer with a fancy drag back -none of what happened would have.thebish wrote: ahhh - I see - had someone else passed it to Cahill, he'd not have committed a foul and the ref would not have had a total brainfart?
There's a time and a place for show boating and its not when your 1-0 down away to Spurs and deep in the relegation zone - and Coyle should be coaching this day in day out, the same with discipline and the need to have 11 men on the pitch and not get a man sent off every other game.
The impression that I get (rightly or wrongly), is that coaching under Coyle is non existent and that training is like a holiday camp - the players need to be told / coached to do the basics, like how to defend corners, man marking, keeping possession - stop aimlessly hoofing it straight back to the opposition - even the basics of quick pass & move football, this should be drilled in to the players every day in training and if the players don't listen and ignore it, drop them to the reserves.
It does seem to be that they are told to just go out and play....because our shape, tactics, discipline, organisation are shambolic and that's down to Coyle and his amateur coaches, its almost like the team are beaten before they go out onto the pitch.
During this run of 16 defeats in 19 games - all he's done is constantly chop and change personal, not tactics, organisation, discipline and if he has its certainly not been visible to most fans.
