Where the hell have you got that from? Isn't he out of contract in the summer?Annoyed Grunt wrote:Apparently we can't sack him, would cost £7 million to do, and we don't have the money to do it.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
Coyle will take us down - there is absolutely no doubt about it
He can't possibly get this shower of shite (BTW his shower as he signed quite a few of them), to win another 10 games (30 points) this season.
So the club (ED & the board), either accept that we will go down and keep Coyle for next season OR they get shut now and use some of the Cahill money to pay off Coyle and his pals, and gamble that an experienced new manager will hopefully get a reaction from the players, organise the players and have an ounce of tactical awareness to at least make us difficult to beat and somehow get us to 17th.

Stuart Hall said that Coyle was safe, as Eddie said it would cost £7 mill to get rid.officer_dibble wrote:Summary please!Armchair Wanderer wrote:Via Stuart Hall on the radio. We can't afford to sack Team OC.wanderers_on_tour wrote:Eddie Davis

Difficult to disagree with that now. Who would you bring in, PT?Peter Thompson wrote:Coyle will take us down - there is absolutely no doubt about it

May the bridges I burn light your way

I can only assume the £7mil includes bringing in a replacement, otherwise who the feck negotiates this stuff?
FWIW, I would rather a new manager with no money to spend than Coyle with whatever we get for Cahill.
If we really are stuck with what we've got, then things really are about to get bleak.

Re: Coyle - Time to go? [post-Everton]
When Coyle came in I willed him to be brilliant, ex-Wanderer and wanted to play football the way he had under Rioch. Unfortunately, injuries, fixtures and sheer bloody mindedness on his part have conspired to put us bottom of the Premier League table.
Now either we sign some amazing players in the window (defenders that can defend, midfielders who can defend and pass to one another and supply the front men)? Or we go down and clear the decks because clearly Gartside has painted us into a corner and paid out over the odds because of sentimentality.
I would like to re-iterate that I like Coyle, I think he has our best interests at heart but you can't play football with this team of cloggers

could they not in theory, just demote Coyle and his boys? put them in charge of the acadamy say, thus not actually sacking and compensating them?

How can I change my vote on this ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

You've just, more or less, defined 'constructive dismissal'. He could walk & claim they left him no option & so demand whatever compo he's due.General Mannerheim wrote:could they not in theory, just demote Coyle and his boys? put them in charge of the acadamy say, thus not actually sacking and compensating them?

He'll go this weekend....he has to
If Gartside doesn't sack him - then he's already accepted relegation
