Re: Megson Watch
Maybe I'm being a bit deluded and not accepting what's going on at BWFC, but I swore that once Megson finally left this club I would never complain about another manager again. He was an absolute disgrace and regardless of what Coyle is doing at the moment it can never be as bad as what we had under him.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Who cares about their personality? Re: Megson Watch
It is looking increasingly likely that we are sliding towards Megsons wet dream i.e. him bringing a side to the Reebok to give us a tatering

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Megson Watch
Seconded.
I have no misty-eyed nostalgia for a man who helped rack up the debt, left us in 19th and generally couldn't wait to do us down when he finally got the opportunity to talk shit about us.
If you pine for him, you're suffering from Stockholm Syndrome as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Megson Watch
I'd not go that far. I certainly don't want him back, even now. Results-wise it is difficult to argue we aren't worse, whatever mitigating factors you may or may not believe in. However, as yet, it doesn't feel like every single fan is on the verge of kicking off with everybody else because the atmosphere is so toxic. Whether you believe it was all his fault, all the fans' fault, or a bit of both, the atmosphere by the time Megson left was horrendous. It's bad now, but at least nearly everyone likes the guy in charge and wants us to win, something you genuinely couldn't say by two years ago.
Don't mean it's all right though, and as I keep saying, not being as bad as Megson should not be a criterion people are relying on for a 'Keep Coyle' campaign. Do folk genuinely think OC is doing as well as possible with these players? If not do you think anyone else achievable (in terms of would they come, and could we afford them) could do better? If not then by all means argue OC should stay, but on those terms, not 'he's not that ginger bloke people hated'.

Re: Megson Watch
I'm not arsed whether Coyle stays or goes.
I'm not having the horseshit thats surfaced recently that Megson was anything other than a disaster for this club.

Megson did as well for us as probably was achieveable when you've got to rebuild an entire squad and the fans hate you.
13th.
Better manager than Coyle, no doubts about it.
Mind I'm struggling to think of a worse one than Coyle.
Doubt Megson cares much, where are they in the league again, and where are we? That's the bottom line, nowt else matters!

Or alternatively they have 42 points from 20 games. We have 9 from 15.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:

Megson was one of the worst things to happen to this football club in decades.

Re: Megson Watch
Megson was a short term solution that became a long term problem.
Coyle is trotting down that path rather swiftly now.

Re: Megson Watch
The post-match interviews under the previous manager were fairly painful listening. I listen to most OC post-match interviews on the BBC website and it's much more pleasant to listen to but he rarely says anything. Even when we were winning. By this I mean he uses a lot of words but he's not telling us anything, or giving us any insights.BWFC_Insane wrote:Coyle is worse though, much much worse.boltonboris wrote:Megson was one of the worst things to happen to this football club in decades.

Really both of them may just as well not bother with the interviews for different reasons.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
