Wolves is a biggun and if we can take summat off the barcodes all good..
Why are people piling on with the 'we must take six or we are doomed again bollox?'
Self fulfilling prophecy.. It's going down to the Olympic opening ceremony with plenty twists and turns
nowt is won or lost in the next six days.. and Blackburn are proper sh1te!.. but I'll take the win.. and fervently hope that Alonso isn't broken..
cos Robbo is looking like a liability..

Out of the home games, Wolves is the stone-cold nailed-on MUST WIN. If I knew we were going to get 3 pts out of that I could live with a L against Newcastle so long as it's by the odd goal and we show the same levels of fight and guts we did today.

we've lost all but 1 home games, that's why they are both massive
we're on 12 points, nearly halfway through! that's pathetic!
anyway, not for tonight, for tonight in the words of the great James Brown....I feel good

Never! I saw him graze the seams of the ball as he scythed down their man with a wild two-footed lunge. Fortunately Philip Atkinson - quite rightly - saw it the same way.officer_dibble wrote:Absolute stone wallerBWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not sure how to analyse what I've just watched...mental would be the right word..
Our fans were superb today.
I think they were absolutely bobbins but we still found a way of making life hard.
We had some pace and mobility going forwards and that showed today.
Spirit was better all round. Madness at the end, why we stretched the game out so much in injury time god knows...
Hear Robbo's was a penalty? Ah Well....
But please please please please lads, don't do what we did after Stoke...follow it up, two home wins, owt less and we are fooked still!
We had a few lucky breaks in our own box today as well - tempered with likely injuries to Alonso and Ngog mind.
Other players of note: Petrov had a blinder, Reo Coker was a leader, Knighthill gave me the jitters the whole game and Darren Pratley managed an impressive display of ineptitude for such a short appearance.

When he ran onto that sitter near the end, I thought Bish's valiant attempts earlier in the thread to "reverse jinx" him into actually doing something good were about to come good ... but unfortunately, the reverse jinx couldn't overcome the shiteness of the player.

Can't buy this, my fleet-footed friend. January's schedule looks awful and we have some catching up to do. Those two games aren't gimmes, but we need to kick on and rack up some points. I hope to the manager's God that we can do so, for his sake and ours, because although we've won, it's once again against a poor team and we need to prove we can beat more than just charity cases.TANGODANCER wrote:We have to get two points minimum. But in the bonus column, we've won three "bottle" games this season. Wigan, Blacburn away, Stoke at home. I find it difficult to understand how the rest of the season fits in to those results. You'd think they were precisely the games we'd get battered in.

So lets say Marcos Alonso's injury isn't serious, chances are we're still going to need to replace him sooner or later

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. Yakubu had no deciding time, it was always going to be a chip. I love Jussi, but at times he's a six-feet-six bloke with a two-foot centre of gravity. I agree Cahill caused the problem though. One Hump Or Two? wrote:I'll put this one down to post-match adrenaline.TANGODANCER wrote:Once again Jussi was doing the splits when it was pretty much a cert Yakubu would lob him.
Jussi's body position was fine for the situation he found himself in. If he stands up tall, Yakubu just passes it into the net along the ground. If the striker executes a perfect chip, not much you can do. The only fault for that goal was Cahill's, for letting Yakubu get the wrong side of him.

Might it be against the happy spirit of the occasion to say we scored first against vulnerable opposition? I mean, thank heavens, etc...Lord Kangana wrote:But in the bonus column, we've won three "bottle" games this season. Wigan, Blacburn away, Stoke at home. Come on though fella, the conversation less than a week ago was "I wish we showed the fight and spirit of the Kean/Blackburn team".
Surely thats precisely what we did?

Re: We're hit and we know we are: Bolton vs Jackburn
I am happy to agree to disagree, but in the spirit of reasoned debate, allow me to point out that it doesn't take much deciding time to dink it along the ground either, if necessary with a toe-poke. If the keeper is stood taller, just a couple of feet either side of him is unstoppable, because he has no time to react at such close range. So it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.TANGODANCER wrote:Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. Yakubu had no deciding time, it was always going to be a chip. Yes mate, course we did, and me and the Barnettas erupted with joy and hugged like we'd stayed up on Christmas Day.Lord Kangana wrote:Come on though fella, the conversation less than a week ago was "I wish we showed the fight and spirit of the Kean/Blackburn team".

Truth is I can feel hope returning. And the safety catch is clicking on. I said before the game that a win would mean nothing if not followed up, and the next two games are about the best opportunity we could ask for.

We have a horrendous January and we've already got some catching up to do. So starting to win home games would be nice.
Don't agree with some of the views tonight. I thought Steinsson gave us good options going forward that we've lacked recently, but at the back he's still utterly incapable of cutting out crosses. Even if he's practically on top of his opposition, guaranteed the guy will still be able to get the cross in. Ridiculous. He couldnt do worse even if he wilfully tried to avoid the ball!
Also, I thought Muamba had a decent game. Did exactly as we'd expect: broke up play and kept the ball quite well. I actually can't recall him giving it away much tonight, he was pretty sensible.
I do agree that we looked worse without Alonso.... And what that says about how bad Robbo is...

Overall some good performances tonight, albeit against limited opposition. Boy, do we rely on early goals for our confidence!

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Just got in, the best game I've been to for years! Great support from the Bolton fans that actually bothered to turn up, apart from some annoying tosser next to me that pissed and whined all the way through the game. Enjoy the win you angry feck*.
I wasn't too confident before the game but after I saw the starting 11 (no Davies, no Robinson and no Pratley) I was quite optimistic and boy did it work. We started out on top and looked like we had movement and pace in the side (mainly because those three slow clobbers weren't playing). Yeah we were scrappy at times and we definitely didn't make it easy for ourselves but who cares, we bloody won!
That win was for the fans, who backed Coyle all the way through. I know the most patient of fans have been really tested, including me, but I fecking love Coyle and I'm so glad we got that win. The Blackburn lot reminded me of how we were under Megson, and were the exact reason as to why I want Coyle to remain as our manager, as I couldn't go through all of that again.
Onwards and upwards, bring on Newcastle and let's hope Kevin Davies never plays another game for us as we looked way slimmer, mobile and better without him!
