On reflection I think that Coyle picked the right team for the job last night...

Shows what happens when you have some movement up front, though NGog, really didn't impress over his ability to run relatively quickly. He did stretch their defence in behind, but his touch was pretty poor at times...

Muamba and NRC, how have they not played every single game together? Baffles me. Only pairing we have in there that could work...

Alonso, did very well, though had nothing much up against him. Petrov had the best game I've seen him have in our colours.

Thought Steinsson was superb last night, showed real battle, and saved us at the end when Knight and Cahill went a bit AWOL...

Mark Davies also looked good coming in off the right...

The next two games are key....

We have to put this one into perspective, Blackburn had two academy lads in their back four, one of whom is a midfield player and Morten Gamst Pedersen at left back. Can only beat whats in front of you of course, but like after Stoke, the key is what we do now...

Lose the next two, and it was irrelevant. Win the next two and it'll be "game on"....

What other options are there to avoid putting robbo back in there if Alonso is out again? No chance Steinsson could do a job* at LB is there, and Boyata at RB? <ducks>

* a better job than Robinson!

What news on N'gog?

Agree about N'Gog, but perhaps he needs a run of games - thought Alonso, Petrov, Steinsson, NRC & Knight (he played well for once, credit where its due !), he was the better of the two CB's, and we are a much better side without KD. Alonso & Petrov linked up well together 1st half - Robinson needs to go and go quickly he gets worse with every game, the man's a fcuking liability

Thought Coyle fcuked up with his subs, and left us with no outlet upfront in the last 15 mins, but saying that how did Pratley miss that chance to make it 3-1

Very important 3 points, but if we don't get 4 points out of the next 2 home games the pressure will be straight back on Coyle....but at least it lifted the pressure for a few days because I didn't expect anything last night and for once we saw some spirit & passion in the side - enjoy it why it lasts !!

Caps, don't get carried away, you're not THAT good ;)

Jimmy, hmmm you make being a Bolton fan sound so tempting! Think I'll find more fulfilment in being a Gooner however...

Fine margins though...if Pratley would have put that away it would have been a master-sub, and Coyle didnt miss the chance.

Not sure about the subs, but I do think Tuncay did really well up on his own, we were playing on the break and really should have scored from one of them and Tuncay was a big part of that.....

Sam being Sam, I just know that was a bit of an opportunity to pour bucketloads of salt in the Venky's wounds. And present himself as more than a mere mortal.

Match report from last night anyone? Especially if you were next to or near Stuart Holden!

If Fabrice and Nigel aren't the first choice centre-mids from here on out then something's wrong!

I went and watched you play fulham on Saturday. I saw the pain and agony of being a wanderers fan etched into Bish and Gary the Enfields faces. Why would I want to do that to myself week in, week out?! ;)

That was ace.. Few points that I picked up on.

Balance was excellent. Davies ont he right coming inside to allow space for Steinsson to expolit.

Petrov and Alonso worked well, but against a very weak Blackburn right flank.

N'gog works space very well, he just doesn't high enough up the pitch at times.

For the Blackburn goal. It was a brainfart by Cahill not stepping up with the rest of the defence. but it was a brainfart by the defence for stepping up at all.

Our goals were well worked, and but for some poor finishing, we could have had more.

Tuncay looked lively and full of effort, but he doesn't make good runs. A couple of times, he should've gone front stick. The one time he chose the right run, he just didn;t have the legs to get on the end of Petrovs centre (which looked like it didn't quite have enough shape on it).

The Pratley sub was called for. Ivan had hardly had a touch for 10 minutes before that and was looking tired. Pratley doesn;t have much ability, but he's a willing runner in midfield and helped us stretch them more in the final 10 minutes and relieved a bit of pressure.

All round, a good positive performance against a team who looked bereft of confidence.

I went last night and haven't seen it back yet on tv, so I have zero clue as to what was going on in the box at the other end.

Alonso was brilliant, won everything in the air and connected well with Petrov.

Ngog was poor. He can't do one v ones at all.

Annoys me that were still scared to just run at the net and take a shot. Several times at the end Petrov and/or Tuncay had the ball through the midfield with plenty of room infront but keep trying to pass it rather than just have a crack.

Good game but I'm not getting carried away until we beat either toon or wolves. We are still in the shit let's not forget...

this makes for wonderful reading...enjoy

I take no pleasure from the predicament Blackburn are in really, I feel sorry for their genuine fans and worried about the future of other clubs with an organisation like the Venkys in charge, theyre an out and out shambles
