I'm also in the Alan Nixon 'love-in'. He has an article in this mornings Mirror saying Cahill's agent has now been given permission to speak to Chelsea after the price agreed. Also according to the Oracle, we have gone back to New York Bulls with an improved £2.5 bid for Ream.

Chelsea already on personal terms with Cahill

Chelsea have opened talks with Bolton and England centre-half Gary Cahill – after agreeing a £7million fee and being given permission to speak about terms.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas hopes to have Cahill available for a quick debut – once the window opens – and took a significant stride towards that last night.

Bolton have allowed Cahill’s agent John Seasman to begin discussions on wageswith Chelsea supremo Ron Gourlay and tie up the deal, pending a medical after the weekend.

Cahill – a free agent in the summer – is expected to say “yes” to the Stamford Bridge switch, although there are still details to be sorted out about the size and length of contract.

Bolton are happy to sell Cahill for the money, with Owen Coyle already planning ways to strengthen his struggling squad.

The move would also give Cahill vital Champions League experience before pushing his claim to be a starter in Fabio Capello’s England side at Euro 2012.

Cahill has the option of sitting and waiting until the summer when he could possibly pick up even more money from his part of any transfer.

However, Chelsea are expected to make him an offer that will be good enough to persuade him to head for London immediately.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Lots of good players in the Bundesliga who are out of contract this summer.
Be nice to get the Captain of Dortmund (Kehl) and the Ukrainian Captain at Munich (Tymoshuk) in centre mid next year!! haha. Dream on.

Sorry, I've gone all 'football manager'. Live in the now! :hang:

Is Dunne still only 32 !?!? B-hell, he's been around for years.

Tosser .... yep, but a defensive midfielder !?!? Coyle shows little inclination to properly use the 2 pretty decent ones we currently have.

I suppose we just have to get used to being linked with everyone & their mother for a few weeks.

Aren't we always linked with Dunne. I know he makes the odd ruck but he's exactly the kind of personality we need,a leader and a fighter and a pretty solid centre half aswell.

No .... that's David Dunn, the Blackburn guy BFSA tried to sign every window that arose.

He wanted him so much he decided to join the club he played for.

Aye,but I'm sure we were linked with Dunne before he went to villa.I rate him although with him ,Wheater and Knight available we'd have a very one dimentional slow central defence unless Ricketts comes in but when Ricketts is fit he's going to be playing right and left back simultaneously for the next month

Pavel Pogrebnyak, isn't he the one that BSA tried to sign a few times? He's out of contract in the summer too.

As long as Kakuta goes back to Chelsea before we try for 'The Kraken' we'll be fin. The rules of loans are that you can't loan two from the same club. It doesn't say anything about not being able to loan two from a club at different times though

Dunne would be a fantastic signing... absolutely the kind of player we need.

Haven't clicked the other link but if I'm right in thinking it's about bringing in that girl from Steps... she'll be a massive improvment on what we've got already.

Katuka has agreed to go somewhere in France, I read somewhere.. so no problem with a loan player from Chelsea.

Oh I remember him but I'm sure around the same time 'Arry was trying for Pavyluchenko, BSA was trying to sign Pogrebnyak.

There are 2 key questions here. Will he improve what we have and can we afford him. Unfortunately most of the players we can afford will be regarded as fecking useless by someone or other on here. Dunne may be the least feckin useless we can get. The American lad would be a gamble if we're hoping he can just dive into the premier league and swim.

All players are a gamble at our 'buying' level. We had no way to know that Holden or Chungy would be monies well spent.

Answer 1 = no, making answer 2 irrelevant.

Dunne is gash. Always has been. Doesn't matter if Knight is worse, Dunne is still not what we need
