How many international caps did Ivan Campo get?lovethesmellofnapalm wrote:How many international caps has our Robbie got? - remind me.Prufrock wrote:Impeccable logic. I, for one, stand corrected. Disgraceful what he has done to the new Fernando Hierro as well. Blake in!
my point is- how the feck does anyone know on here how Tuncay would do for us given a run in the team?
but hey you just go on taking cheap shots by implying associations/connections i haven't made.
You've connected Campo and Tuncay on absolutely nothing more than they are about 30 when we signed them on loan! No different than me comparing Brakey and Hierro.
I've seen plenty of Tuncay over the last 5/6 years to know he is a fancy Dan motd player. Example of the top of my head from Saturday when he drew in two of their defenders, great bit of play, needed to lay it off into a player in space (2-0 down mind) and he tried a ludicrous flick over their heads and lost it. He's bobbins. And to imply as you did he could potentially have a Campo level of influence, and is only prevented from doing so by the manger refusing to play him, because he too was fairly old seems a tad ridiculous. Your comments on caps seems to imply we are talking a different pedigree between Tunners and Blake ( I'd argue we're talking shades of shite) but there's a difference between caps for a shit Turkey team, and playing for Real Madrid.

PS It's not meant to be a cheap shot, I just thing it's a rubbish allusion. That Coyle is denying us our new Campo coz he won't give the 29 year old a chance.

Rubbish Turkey team that finished third in European champs- that one?
and i think i've demonstrated my line of thinking to be more than just about age
as for examples
i was at the Brit last season on a very windy day when the only player on show who could pass, control and lift the game out of the ordinary was Tuncay.
truth is- of course we cant make proper comparisons until we've seen enough and i don't think Tuncay has been given the opportunity to show what he can offer in a white shirt.
and i suspect either would have Ivan- who is my hero btw and i have the number 16 shirt to "prove" it - under the present management- just not his type.

I'd forgotten about them getting to the semis. Biggest travesty ever. Fluked it against Czech's and were absolutely bummed by Croatia, our Ivan nicked a last second injury time winner, and they fecking equalised. Great resolve, but not a great side. He went in net against CR didn't he?!
I think he has technical ability, but is a shit footballer. Overall. I've seen a fair bit of him, but equally, I'd love to be convinced. I don't think Coyle wanted him though. Was a panic buy. At the time our wingers and strikers combined were Davies, Klasnic, Petrov, Eagles, an injured Lee and Robbie Blake. Anyone would've done then. That, IMO is why he didn't sign him. Not sure why you reckon he wouldn't have played Campo, everything to suggest he would have thought Campo a perfect signing at centre half (:O) if not right back (given he isn't Steinsson)!

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Coyle didn't want him- that is fairly obvious unless he trains like a drain (possible).
Coyle obviously doesn't "want" Muamba or Steinsson either
He clearly has pretty fixed ideas about what he does like in a player.
Which- bringing it all neatly back to Gary Cahill- raises the question.
Do we trust him to use the Cahill money wisely?
I'm beginning to move towards the "not fecking likely" camp

Coyle signed/wanted Tuncay or he would not be here. The fact that he is not playing him hardly at all, and then when he does out of position, frustrates me. Wolves is the type of team Tuncay would excel against. Give him a crack of the whip ffs.

We don't know how he trains... If he's as shit in training as he showed when he's played this season. he's not gonna get picked.Holden midfielder wrote:Coyle signed/wanted Tuncay or he would not be here. Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Cant fault his running,if he could be persuaded to hold the ball and link play instead of trying some stupid flick or backheel everytime he has possession he could do a job. He could play in the hole if he had a partner with pace to run onto a pass but we dont have one of them.Rarely looks like scoring himself but as has been said so far he hasnt been given the chance to show what he can do.

Well ermm that's kind of my point. We played Klasnic, our most prolific striker in a withdrawn role for the last two games.Bruce Rioja wrote:Oh, reet - a system that just allows the laziest c*nt on earth to blast the ball into the net with monotonous regularity? That system?BWFC_Insane wrote: I don't think Tuncay is shit....
He clearly needs a system that works to his strengths, and we don't play that.
ACE! Let's work to his 'strengths'
If we are playing that role why not just stick Tuncay who actually is suited to it there and put Klasnic where he should be, in the box?

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Tuncay shouldn't appear anywhere near the squad. He's shocking.
Mavies, if anyone, I think would work well in an advanced role.
Tuncay = a rushed and useless signing, barring Cup games.
Hope he scores a Bobic-style hatrick tomorrow though.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
At least we didn't pay £4mil for Tuncay
Mind the fella we did pay £4mil for is clearly low on confidence, something for the manager to sort out

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Is it wrong that i'm developing quite a soft spot for Chelsea amongst the top 4 elite. First Anelka, then Sturridge and now Cahill (and possibly McEachran's loan deal) they seem to do handle their business well and handle it fair. Plus the way their fans held the minute silence and in fact led a full, spontaneous minutes applause before the Lofthouse game still gives me shivers when I think back to it.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Article says £5mil - so what we paid for him. Presumably the other £2 mil is appearance based.
He's made the better move
Fair play, he's not been at his best this season but he hasn't shirked
Now our best players are definitely injured - he wont be easily replaced.
He's deffo playing tomorrow as well then.
