Sympathy for Owen Coyle.
I've never played computer games except the odd lap of Mario Kart or couple of levels of Jet Set Willy because I've not got the patience. Mate of mine used to play Elite (on the BBC - shows how long ago that was) which to me just seemed to involve sitting staring at a screen for a thousand hours until blindness set in.
Anyway, eldest got FIFA12 for Christmas (he's been playing '08 on the DS and thinks he's the bee's knees) so last night when he went to bed I ahem...turned the Wii on to erm...make sure the err controls were...err working right.
I'm managing Bury and so far my record is pld 6, w0, d1, l5, f1, a14 and we're out of the League Cup.
Crowd's not happy, chairman's not happy and my rating is falling faster than Theo Walcott in the penalty box.
Long story short this management lark isn't as easy as I thought it was.
Big game tonight. Orient away.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

i'm not quitting if that's what you're suggesting?Worthy4England wrote:I think you're leaving yourself a mountain to climb
And not in the Phil Neal 'I'm no quitter/I quit' sense neither.
Looking for an Indian chicken coup owner to come and buy me out.

You need to come out on the right side of the margins though
May the bridges I burn light your way

Carling Cup and npower League One please.

That it's going to lose its mind

Re: Sympathy for Owen Coyle.
When we were kids we played Football Manager on the BBC (same 'Elite' mate) pretty much relentlessly for a whole summer.
We (meaning him) were sitting pretty at the top of the league one day when we decided to venture out doors and actually play on our bikes for a bit.
When we came back in his dad had 'had a shot' and we were bottom of Div 3.
How we (meaning me) laughed.
Imagine not owning a computore.

Re: Sympathy for Owen Coyle.
It's getting worse.
We (Bury that is) are rock bottom of the league with still on the only 1 win and four draws out of 20 odd games. Out of three cup comps the little 'assistant' guy keeps telling me what a bad job I'm doing.
Thanks for nowt.
I've tried changing formations and players but nothing's working.
I keep making chances but my strikers are too low on confidence (ie rubbish) that I can't buy a goal.
Even Clive 'After the Event' Tyldsley's having a pop now.
Not looking good.
Next season perhaps.

You'd have already been sacked in Football Manager. I now see see why you're tolerant of OC. Wrong football sim.

Re: Sympathy for Owen Coyle.
Change it to the easiest setting?
When I first played fifa 07 I couldn't play, took me half a season on the easy setting then worked my way up to play the hardest.
Out of all the Fifas 07 is my fave, but it's not on the Wii!
I recommend changing it to easy then have fun climbing up from the relegation zone!

I imagine from the tone of the posts, he's doing it as a manger only setting and 'simulating' the games, as opposed to actually 'playing' the games..

Ah.
Ages ago from the BWFCSuperstore I bought a Bolton Club manager.
Updated it online to fix bugs, then a few years ago on a new computer I loaded and went to update it, but all known stuff from the game was gone from the internet!
I'm awful at management anyway!

Re: Sympathy for Owen Coyle.
In support of a struggling Coffey and to show some solidarity with a fellow Wanderer, I picked up the FIFA 11 version for a fiver. I've always been shite at Footy sims where you actually have to play the fecker.
Anyhow in my brief foray into the FA cup yesterday, we successfully conquered Ipswich 2-0 in round 3, but /gulp lost in round 4 after a replay to /gulp Sheffield Wednesday, 3-2.
We're domed I tells ya.

I hated Fifa for not having FA Cup replays.
I'd battle for a ****ing draw and it would go to extra time

Was going to buy Fifa 09 for cheap soon, now I will hold out for Fifa 11+
(I got Fifa 10 awile ago on PS2 and it had no FA Cup replays)
