No, no, no, not so. This was a terrific and desperately needed result on its own. One game at a time and without this result we'd really have been dispiritied for what comes next. As it is we're three point better off and have a confidence boost. Credit where it's due. It was a great result all on its own. Well done the lads.truewhite15 wrote: This result is only as good as the one that follows it. .

Not that I'm complaining, like.

Nice article from Tim Howard:
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... for-Bogdan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I thought he put in a great performance, pulled off some cracking saves and we could have easily had 3 or 4 if it were a lesser goalkeeper.
Edit:
It's also good to see a manager accepting the other team were better rather than tossers like Wenger and Ferguson making excuses and blaming refs:

Never thought we'd get back from that first goal, well after conceding first the other 14 times...
Feet are fecking freezing off but well worth it
Team was right, we just about defended difficult swirling set pieces and despite the freak goal I enjoyed Bogdan's aggression, well done Coyle.
Easy 3 next by looks of it, COYW

Tomorrow morning's papers will never be so eagerly scanned or so welcome. The "funny old game" adage was never truer than tonight. You'd almost have mortgaged your house against Howard scoring or Newcastle sticking three past United. Some might even have done it against us beating Everton away, but there you go.

David Moyes was very classy in defeat tonight.

Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
Just got back in, thatll do for a first visit to Goodison Park for me! (my word, people werent joking about the wooden seats, wooden floors and pillars in the way of everything were they?!)
I thought for once, for once, we looked pretty solid tonight Ive never been so thankful for a boring, dour first half to pass by without much incident and then I dreaded our usual second half capitulation but bar that freak goal we were better than them - the Wanderers of old in parts too which was so pleasing to watch. Two really good finishes and an away end small in number but big in voice, excellent stuff.

Great win, Howard's goal epitomized our season so far.
Better shape, better performance. Said we looked a bit better against Wolves, in a too little, too late sort of way. I refuse to blindly hope, but happy Wanderer tonight.
Just hope we're not too far back at the end of Jan.

Its interesting that we're getting results away from home, yet he's prepared to tinker with the system, yet home has been a graveyard for us and he doesn't seem willing.
I still can't get my head around the good away results we've had this season. They in no way square with the manner of how the rest of the season has panned out.

assuming cahill headed that ngog is about a yard offside!

At the time, I was querying why Ngog didn't really challenge for that ball. Maybe he knew? Had he thrown everything at it, the assistant ref. might have waved his flag.Verbal wrote:assuming cahill headed that ngog is about a yard offside!

Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
Fecking chuffed. Despite the goal, I thought Bogdan was superb in nightmare conditions. He was much more willing to come off his line than Jussi, and that clearly gave confidence to the centre backs. I'd be dissapointed to see Jussi reclaim the jersey after that.
And 4–5–1 next week, please.

Doesn't matter, clearly affected Howard. Got lucky there. Not sure we've actually been that unlucky this year, rather other teams of taken full advantage when they have got fortunate decisions against us, and we, until now, haven't.Owen'sEleven wrote:At the time, I was querying why Ngog didn't really challenge for that ball. Mate just text me, "Couldn't believe my ears when I heard who'd scored in the Everton-Bolton game....bloody David N'Gog!"

Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
No statto but it seems to me [mostly from fixed odd betting] that a lot more teams outside the top 5 or 6 are picking up more results away from home.. Perhaps less pressure from unrealistic supporter expectation is a factor?... a point away is an acceptable outcome so sitting in and taking the Megson type approach is more palatable away from home . Whereas the pressure to win at home makes teams force the pace and leaves them [ and us in particular it seems] susceptible to the counter punch...Lord Kangana wrote:Its interesting that we're getting results away from home, yet he's prepared to tinker with the system, yet home has been a graveyard for us and he doesn't seem willing.

last night [before the stream fell over] there were long passages of possession where we had the ball in front of them and went sideways and backwards without the merest suggestion of threat.. I don't think the Reebok collective moron would put up with that without baying for attacking intent... and getting on the teams back....
but I could be mistaken

Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
A great game.
Thought we would win for sure during the first half.
Howard Goal I was in two minds, one obviously was gutted Everton Scored. But I was happy to see a goalkeeper score from his position.
Awesome Result.
