That's what we've been missing from the games I've seen. I can understand us getting less space at home so maybe that explains it.

Very happy.

Two decent games in a row!? Who's next?

agreed

Ricketts ain't no slouch petrov, eagles, sparky, cahill, ngog and to an extent the moo and NRC aswell none have blistering pace but none are slow

as soon as davo came on he gave the ball away straight away plus we whacked it up to him a couple of times and well you know the rest

he's been brilliant for us but i think the time has come for him to leave or go on the coaching staff i imagine he's on a fair old whack aswell so we would be saving alot of money you know lowering the wage bill and all that

We were leading with minutes to play and Everton were chasing the ace. KD came on to hold the ball up in the corners and keep pressure off the defence, not show ball skills.

The step change has been made that he's no longer a starter. I'm happy for his place on the bench, the intention was there. It won't always come off, but small steps etc.

He also won a free kick and held the ball up.

Davies is fine as an option off the bench for me, depending on the situation.

He did a nice back heel. ;-)

He also held the ball up well on a couple of occasions. The ball into the corner flag attempt was pretty shite though.

not really, unless there is a different definition of "step change" than this one...

indeed - which is why I was surprised that Tango picked that out in his defense!

Tango did nothing of the sort, nor did I defend anything. I said/indicated the OC's reason for putting him on was pretty obvious to me, ie to try to keep the ball upfield and away from our end, nothing more.

ahh - do you agree, then, that KD was actually crap at what you say he was sent on to do - holding the ball in the corners?

FWIW - keeping the ball in the corners seems to be a skill we have lost almost entirely from the entire squad!

Not so much that, you can't hold the ball indefinitely in the corner. The key is to win set pieces OR if you can't, give away a throw in the corner and box the other team in to stop them getting out for as long as possible.

We're not good at that anymore. Allardyce used to work on it. Soon as the ball goes out a man would block the path back to the keeper and 2 more would stop a quick throw, meaning as a team we could squeeze up and make it hard for them to attack us late on in the game.

From a finacial point of view

i don't fancy having one of are most highly paid players to "just come off the bench and hold the ball up" (Which i don't think he's really that good at that anymore)

unless of course he takes a massive wage cut then fine IMO

I love the guy :eh: but there comes a time and Tango this is his time

Just let him go mate

just let him go

End of season he can go.

Till then he's a useful option off the bench.

And his experience may be important too.

Given his experience he's got more know-how of what to do to run the clock down than NGog, I'd imagine....
