according to NRC in the BeN...
Wanderers have a ready-made replacement for Chelsea-bound Gary Cahill in their ranks, according to Nigel Reo-Coker.

With the clock ticking down on Cahill’s departure to Stamford Bridge, the focus has now shifted to who can fill his boots in the centre of Owen Coyle’s defence.

Reo-Coker believes David Wheater is due his chance after waiting patiently in the wings for the last 12 months since his £2.3million move from Middlesbrough.

And he has even tipped the big centre-back to weigh in with vital goals, such as the one Cahill grabbed to win the game against Everton on what looks like being his farewell appearance for the Whites.

“We’ll miss Gary, who is a top player, and England international – but at the same time, we’ve got David Wheater, who is a very good player and can step in there,” Reo-Coker said. “I think he can do just as good a job.

“You would be very surprised at what David Wheater can do with the ball in training. He definitely can score some goals – trust me.”
that's ok then!

So long as he can stay on the pitch.

I like him, but I think his next sending off will get him a 5 match ban. That'd be 12 matches out, plus 3 he didn't stay on the pitch. Expensive.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
