I couldn't help but laugh at this. The only 'impact' he could have as a sub is if he replaced one of the prop forwards at Wigan RL.Prufrock wrote:If not I'd be quite happy to keep Davo as an impact player.
Scary sight watching MOTD last night, I can't remember if it was after our first or second goal but KD was ready to come on, Owen must have told him to sit back down again! Scored at just the right time then!
Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
I was actually a bit peed off Davo came on with the way Ngog was playing second half, the amount of goals we've shipped another one was not past us to help the goal diff!
Davo should (I know its business) be allowed to leave for Sheff unt for now't if he wanted to go in recognition of service to us if all was fair in life. He is no longer a premeir league threat his legs and the likes of Fergie, Wenger etc have seen to that.

Doubtless a part of Coyle's thinking was to allow Ngog the applause from the away end.
And for what it's worth, I think KD still has a role to play from the bench, such as in the circumstances he came on the other night: winding down the clock, disrupting play, physicality. I'm more worried to hear that OC was considering bringing him on at 0-1.

Ain't no great lover of "running down the clock" seen it come unstuck to many times and you have to be very good to do it. Davo goes down once for a free kick it ain't given and the oppo's counter attack, it ain't worth it!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Doubtless a part of Coyle's thinking was to allow Ngog the applause from the away end.

Far more chance of keeping possession that way than firing it over the top for Ngog to run on to. Better yet to keep hold of the ball, but baby steps...Hoboh wrote:Ain't no great lover of "running down the clock" seen it come unstuck to many times and you have to be very good to do it. Over the years I'd wager we've had a lot more success "running down the clock" late on than we have when we've said "lets go for another"...Hoboh wrote:Ain't no great lover of "running down the clock" seen it come unstuck to many times and you have to be very good to do it. All a bit subjective I guess...
When under siege I'd rather have Davies up front than NGog so that the ball sticks, but I do take the point about pace...if you're 1-0 up with time ticking down though, making the ball stick up front is very powerful...

Run down five mins maybe but 10 or 15 or so? besides Everton were there for the taking their hearts had gone.BWFC_Insane wrote:Over the years I'd wager we've had a lot more success "running down the clock" late on than we have when we've said "lets go for another"...Hoboh wrote:Ain't no great lover of "running down the clock" seen it come unstuck to many times and you have to be very good to do it. Sorry to disagree BWFCI but now I would not have Davo anywhere near the first 11 too many are running on memories about Davo now not the realistic version he is finished at this level.
Davo has been one of my heros but he is becoming the boxer taking that last fight too many and I want him to remain a hero not suffer abuse from our supporters.
Re: Onwards and Upwards Everton vs Bolton (Match thread)
Davies is better defensively, ie. from corners, set pieces.
From memory he scrambled a cross into the 6 yard box behind, for their last corner of the game. Saved us all a heart attack had he not been there. Couldn't have imagined N'Gog being there.

Broadly I agree about Davies, but I'd still prefer him in a backs to the wall last 10 minutes scenario to NGog who still has lots to learn.Hoboh wrote:Run down five mins maybe but 10 or 15 or so? besides Everton were there for the taking their hearts had gone.BWFC_Insane wrote:Over the years I'd wager we've had a lot more success "running down the clock" late on than we have when we've said "lets go for another"...Hoboh wrote:Ain't no great lover of "running down the clock" seen it come unstuck to many times and you have to be very good to do it. I'd rather have Davo on the bench than Robbie Blake.
Besides, it only takes an injury/suspension or two and suddenly we're left with fck all options up front.
Davies stays 'til the season end.

I'd rather have Blake and 30k a week for a proper player

I'm not sure KD is anywhere near as sticky as he used to be....BWFC_Insane wrote:
