Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
Was excellent in 2010, not so good in 2011 by all accounts.
You could say the same about Cahill really, so I guess there's a trade-off between long-term potential and current form. Signing him now will give him time to adjust to the differences between the leagues. Considering he's been on trial before we signed him, he can't be that much of an unknown quantity.

I think he is going to be a very good player for us.

I have a gut feeling that he'll be another Knight/Shittu. If we've only got a few million to play with I don't think we can afford £2m for this kind of risk. He certainly doesn't sound ready and certainly not at Holden levels of goodness...

Will he get a work permit is probably the first question to answer.
Will have to go to appeal......

From this clip I can already say he'll be an improvment on Knight, who would have given up running at the halfway line:Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I have a gut feeling that he'll be another Knight/Shittu. I have Gerald Cid feelings here.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
Are we not better off getting that lad off of Crawley being as he's proven at a higher level?
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
The average American opinion seems to be that he'd struggle with the physical side of the game in England. I'll reserve judgement till I've seen him play but given that the normally hypetastic Americans aren't blowing his trumpet I feel somewhat skeptical.

Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
if he puts the effort in he is 1 up on knight
id prefer onuoha given he is proven premier league but giving him a 3 year deal is too much of a risk given we're quite likely to go down. So lower wages = less risk

Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
Yes, but on the other hand it appears like we're going to overpay for Ream. I've heard £3 million (not $3 million!) being mentioned.officer_dibble wrote:if he puts the effort in he is 1 up on knight

He will have been training with Davies for the past few weeks, considering he's been on trial. I'm sure he'll cope.Whookam wrote:The average American opinion seems to be that he'd struggle with the physical side of the game in England. Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
Kevin Davies? The Kevin Davies that can't get into the team anymore? The Kevin Davies that pretty much everyone looks at and thinks "Yep, he's past it." I'm not sure where you're going with this. The consensus is that Ream struggles with the physical side of the game in MLS so he's not going to suddenly become John Terry-esque when he gets here.jmjhb wrote:He will have been training with Davies for the past few weeks, considering he's been on trial. I am quite dubious as well, although I'm not sure everybody knew how much of a success Holden would be.

The Sherpa Van Trophy! We've won it one time!
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
I don't think anyone did. I assume Jurgen's recommended this Ream kid, and for that reason I'm hopeful, a least for the long-term.keveh wrote:I am quite dubious as well, although I'm not sure everybody knew how much of a success Holden would be.

The Kevin Davies that is arguably the most physical player in the Premiership?Whookam wrote:Kevin Davies? The Kevin Davies that can't get into the team anymore?
