Yup, I think Gartside and Coyle played it well. Though they should have tried to avoid this situation in the first place.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Arsenal offer basically less than that this summer - when the bid failed the board was full of gooners (especially some chap called anti-lock braking system or something) saying they would get him in January for next to nothing? Seems a fair price to me at this point - whoever gets him.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Indeed, Bish. We've accepted £7m so the auction's over.
Talk the other day was of nouveau riche arrivistes PSG targeting Kolo Toure. That may or may not be linked to the Cahill -> Citeh rumour.
Athers - yeah they sniffed then switched in summer.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

nahhh - he's locked in a back room finalising a new 20yr deal with BWFC... Apparently re.Cahill he is having medical first, personal terms are "provisionally agreed" pending medical results. No pen has hit paper yet. That's according to someone who writes for the Fulham chronicle covering Chelsea

All expected to go through this avvy, isn't it?
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
The rumours are starting that the deal is now done and dusted on Twitter.
In other news, the bitter Arsenal fans are back out bitching about Bolton... all stemming from us turning down their summer Cahill bid. "We don't need Cahill anyway, he's over-rated" etc. Obviously that translates into "Shit, we needed him".
Can't say I have much time for Arsenal fans, in general.

Obviously covers Fulham too, but the fella who I spoke to writes only Chelsea related newsCAPSLOCK wrote:The Fulham Chron covers Chelsea...really?chelseaLad wrote:Apparently re.Cahill he is having medical first, personal terms are "provisionally agreed" pending medical results. Re.Alan Nixon, I remember him tweeting someone week or so back saying Cahill had reached a compromise with Chelsea and was now happy to go, just the final minor details being sorted by his agent, I've no idea how Nixon has gone from that to "Gary hasn't agreed yet"

Absolute nonsense, also translates into "I am so bitter Chelsea are looking like getting him and we plumped for Per Mertesacker"Chrisfu wrote:The rumours are starting that the deal is now done and dusted on Twitter.

Worrying for both our clubs if true...
But I'm sure he will sign soon, as both sides will surely be pressuring him to make his bloody mind up!
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
if.... as some gooners claim - we turned them down for roughly the same level of bid in the summer - and now have sold him to chelsea for roughly the same amount...
then it looks to me like a good bit of business - the same amount of cash - PLUS half a season of games out of him...
