You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Jesus, Gary, how did you find that?! They'll be putting a restraining order on you if you're not careful!

Surely you want them "pre-wash"?

I was reading about Ream's transfer on another site and they mentioned his wife's name. I googled his wife's name and their wedding list came up! Bizarre!

Do you really want to risk the chance that she uses the same washing powder as your mum?

Arsenal was believed to have bid somewhere in the £2M range which is why it was rejected. Not this time though! it's funny now, since holden's move to Bolton has been so successful and after what he did (waited out his contract so he could leave on a free) it's now referred to as "pulling a Holden" here in the states. as a manager, you don't want your players "pulling a Holden" so you sell them while they're hot instead of not getting anything in return for them!
Pretty much the same as the Bosman ruling.

ISTR Clint Dempsey - another successful US->UK import - was denied a transfer the year before he came. You'd have to be p*ssed (off) with that - being denied the chance to move from £20kpa to something like £20kpw. It'd come near 'restraint of trade' over here, which is kind of why Jean-Marc Bosman sued his employers (although he was actually out of contract and his club refused to sell when offered a fee). Mind you, US sports are oddly collectivised for such an arch-capitalist country...

Everything I've heard about Ream sounds good. Certainly the US traits of hard-working, team-player and athletic alongside either Wheater, Knight, Ricketts or another would probably work well. The negatives were that he was a bit lightweight and can make mistakes. It sounds like he's been bulking up a bit and as he gets experience he'll make less mistakes.

Sounds like a good buy to me! Are we just waiting for the Cahill move to go ahead?

yea but also, by the time Fulham bought dempsey, he was a World Cup goal scorer, younger than Ream and with 20+ caps already for the US. much, much easier case

also i forgot about Brad Guzan going to Villa. He was initially denied a work permit, but once Bob Bradley wrote a letter on appeal saying Guzan is US's number 2 (at the time) behind Tim Howard (btw buy Bogdan a pint for us 8)) he got a work permit.

Just get Holden, Klinnsman and Thierry to write a letter of recommendation, you'll win the appeal. You can also look at Alejandro Bedoya up on wiki. Basically same thing with work permit this past summer from his Swedish club to Rangers FC

that's the attitude :pissed: . i don't want you all crucifying the guy if he doesn't play like Pique the second Coyle gives him a shot. me and my pops both have a Ream #5 Red Bull jersey. love him to death. he'll definitely become a crowd favorite guaranteed like Holden. and much like holden, he'll have the chip of being a unproven American so he'll work as hard if not harder

Pique? We broke him :D According to my (wipes hands) OT insiders, it was after we beat the rags 1-0 that Purple Face decided to flog him back to Barça...

Gosh, that's a very ordinary list ... we could all, individually, run to most of that. Then, as discussed, he is only on £28k a year at the mo ... aged 24. In New York City !

Mind you, those electric items may not work so well in Horwich. Maybe we buy her a load of electrical adapters. [/quote]

Won't matter. Three months over here and he'll have a cook, two maids and a Butler to sort it.

LOL well barca is basically our feeder club now, so hopefully they'll let us land pique or puyol on a free during the summer as a replacement for Ream

just a minor update, Ream's agent has been quoted in saying that contrary to reports in England, the transfer is not done and negotiations are still ongoing

the transfer is now believed to be around £2.5M

A guy currently earning £28k a year cannot be getting difficult about our offer to him.

If there's a delay it's as his club &/or agent try to get more and maybe, now over here, other clubs try to get a sniff.

Or we're foot-dragging due to Mr Cahill's indecision.

Tell him to sign or the matching kettle and toaster are going back.
