Much ado about nothing although it is obvious from the piece, just in case there was any doubt, that Nixon does actually have coyles ear.

Cahill puzzlingly spoke to Bolton boss Owen Coyle and chairman Phil Gartside on Wednesday, despite being cleared to head to London to seal the transfer.

This, Chelsea possibly walking away, while high risk for us, is the only possible way we could get a bit of an auction going...if United and City have a dabble

.... & if we don't sell him and Cahill stays till June & we lose £7m or so but keep a standard of defender we're unlikely to get in his stead then it may well pay for itself in league position money and even in staying in this league.

VERY high risk for us, surely after the Elmander saga Owen and Phil just want the deal sorted one way or another? I know the circumstances are different but the underlying principle is similar.CAPSLOCK wrote:This, Chelsea possibly walking away, while high risk for us, is the only possible way we could get a bit of an auction going...if United and City have a dabble

He'll still be in there arguing with the sour faced, bee-chewing bugger behind the counter.

He was talking a while ago about waiting til the summer, maybe he wasn't joking.Sponge wrote:For feck's sake Gary, get gone would you.
If he doesn't want to go to Chelsea (where's Elvis Costello?) he might not want to go to City or Liverpool either. He may even do a Charlie Adam and just do a nod and a wink with the one he wants to go to.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
S'all right, he can go to Spurs for £7million in the summer. Isn't a free transfer, they signed him in January but their fax was broken.CumbrianWanderer wrote:it smells of an 11th hour redknapp snatch n grab! here's hoping everything falls through

Unbelievable. Now what do we do while Gary hope for a call from Sir Alex ? Seems clear to me that Chelsea is not his preferred destination. or else he would have signed a long time ago. Is it too late to send back Ream and his wife ? How will we pay the transfer fee and additional wages ?
Come on Gary, sign up! We need the Dough !

Cahill set to accept 'low' Chelsea pay
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
50,000 for sitting on the bench is a great salary. I guess that the problem is more about being garanteed a first team spot than about the salary?? Why would any player chose a possible bench position rather than a guaranted starting position??2399 wrote:Poor Gary £50,000 a week

If he's not happy with Chelsea, and I wouldn't be in his position, then all he has to do is wait until the summer and leave to a Club of his own choice then. May not be good business for Bolton, unless he helps us stay up, but it could be for Cahill.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
he could sign a new contract with us for £50,000 a week I imagine... and get first team football (if he can displace Ream!)
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Its clear only Chelsea is seriously interested in spending money on him right now. But with him being free agent in 6 months, Im sure alot of teams are promising him big money if he waits until the summer where he will get big signing fee and higher wages. If Cahill wanted to sign for Chelsea, he would have done it by now. I hope for Boltons sake he doesnt get selfish and make sure he either accept the move, or extend his contract and install a decent buy out clause so the club gets a bit of money. Sadly i think his agent will make sure he waits to the summer and get as much money as possible

He will be more worried about the summer and his England career, and also his missus had a baby a few months back, perhaps a move to London is difficult for personal reasons.
Either way I hope he does go, because we need the money to give ourselves a chance.
