Was that from Manchester? I looked on skyscanner last week just testing the water and the best I found was via Amsterdam for nearly a grand!General Mannerheim wrote:been before a couple of times, no interest in going again at that price. its not a bad stop over tho, flights are reasonable too.

Train is easy
Go via London on Saturday
Home direct on Sunday dinner
Tis a cracking night out
35 is good...keeps the peasants out
Think we paid 60 a couple of weeks back for the train

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Norwich Away

Direct coming home on Sunday
I'd recommend this, Norwich is a great night
Small enough to walk the place, but big enough to lose yourself

MPs used to... so that the riff-raff didn't earwig their important MP conversations....Prufrock wrote:I do wonder that! They can't! Can't!
also..Knickerless Winterton wrote:"They want to stop members of parliament travelling first class," he said. "That puts us below local councillors and officers of local government. They all travel first class. Majors in the army travel first class.
"So we are supposed to stand when there are no seats ... I'm sorry, it infuriates me."
Speaking today on Radio 5 Live, Winterton said MPs needed to be able to work in peace when travelling between parliament and their constituencies. "If I was in standard class I would not do work because people would be looking over your shoulder the entire time, there would be noise, there would be distraction."
He said of standard-class passengers: "They are a totally different type of people. There's lots of children, there's noise, there's activity. I like to have peace and quiet when I'm travelling."
also..Tom Levitt, the Labour backbencher for High Peak, said: “I invariably work on the train, something I can only do in a first class carriage for three reasons: that I have a table, space and privacy to work there; that I have a seat (as the standard class carriages between Manchester and London are often standing room only); and that (as I am over six feet tall) I have the leg room for comfort.”
and... Anne Wiidecombe..Sandra Gidley, Lib Dem MP for Romsey, said: “I find I can usually do some useful work which is not always possible in standard class.
“Also, as a woman travelling alone late at night I feel safer in first, particularly on the later trains when there are often a number of people who have been drinking.”
She said: “If I travel first class, I can plug in my computer, not a facility that is universally available in second class. I can therefore work throughout the journey.
[She] pointed out she had written two books while travelling first class.

I'm sailing to Norfolk on my big fvck off yacht, then getting a helicopter into Norwich to land of the roof of the Norfolk finishing school for ladies. Then, I will be carried on the backs of nubile nymphets all the way to the stadium; prior to being directed to my private box, to be met by a group of female Swedish porn stars, who serve my every whim. And Bolton win 0-1
