Tuncay
Why did we bother to sign him? Whose idea was it, Coyle's or Phil's? Is he horrible in training or is he just not the flavor his season. Thought he could make an impact for us as the "Stryker in the hole" but looks lime we will never see it. If he doesn't play against Macc the expirement (sic) is over.

According to reports, even Cahill wasn't on that. It might be true.

Re: Tuncay
I'm a bit baffled by the treatment of Tuncay and I think he deserves some credit for the way he applies himself in the limited opportunities he's had.His movement is good, he shows for the ball and he works hard. As for whether he's ever been good, certainly before he came to England and initially at Boro he did pretty well as far as I remember. Never really fitted in as stoke and looks like he's picked another club where he's the square peg.I don't see him getting much chance to play in the hole this season as it looks like for the moment coyle has realised 451 is our best formation. He isnt a right winger but his movement and control would make him an option to switch with NGog in a 451 once NGog has run himself into the ground. He's certainly more capable of doing that than Klasnic or K Davies who arent fit enough or quick enough to create space with their movement or show for a ball hold it and give it.
Course he doesnt always help himself when his fancy flicks and back heels fail but if he keeps it simple he could do a job.

Re: Tuncay
He's fecking shit! 'Not a winger' he's played a hiouge part of his career there. 'Play him just behind a striker' why build a team around somebody who thinks football is about skillz. Playing there you need end product, and Tuncay has far far less of that than even Mark Davies.
As for why did we sign him, I have a strong suspicion it's because at the time we had fit Petrov, Eagles, Klasnic, Davies, Blake for out wide and up front. You'd ideally like 7 or 8 for those 4 positions, and we had four, and a fat lad. Anybody would've fecking done.

You may well be right that he was a panic signing after CYL got injured.May even be right that he's "fecking shit".I dont think I've seen enough of him in full games to know but from what I have seen I'd stick by what I said earlier.

I am with you luv child, he is costing us a hefty wedge, bad waste of money as it stands right now. Coyle has a lot to answer for wrt wasting limited resources on a player who has not gotten chance to shown his worth.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:I'm a bit baffled by the treatment of Tuncay and I think he deserves some credit for the way he applies himself in the limited opportunities he's had.His movement is good, he shows for the ball and he works hard. Our wage bill for the playing staff was 46M....Lord Kangana wrote:According to reports, even Cahill wasn't on that. It might be true.
I think its safe to say Cahill was on at least 2M a year...likely more....

A manager has signed a player (on loan!!) who turns out to be not as good as people think? Every fvckin' manager in World Football has had a few of those.
FWIW. I've seen plenty of Tuncay over the years. And Pru's right, he is shit

Calm down Boris. I back Coyle but he got it wrong on a guy who was on £@ 35,000 a week at Wolfsburg. We are probably Paying a good chunk of that. Could have signs three more Pratleys for that

Re: Tuncay
I'd like to see Tuncay given a full game in the hole, which is barely different from the role Mavies has been playing.
I'd also like to see Tuncay and Klasnic together, I think that could work well.
Only trouble is, Klas's lack of pace would mean we'd need rapid wingers.

Re: Tuncay
On paper, it looked like a good signing. In principal, it's turned out that he's totally innefective.
He's played in the hole a few times (granted, off the bench, but still getting a good hour or so in total) and he's looked nothing like capable of playing in that role either.
If that's his best position, then I'm afraid he's not good enough for this level.

Re: Tuncay
I watched the game against Liverpool reserves last week and Tuncay played well. Scored the goal and generally won and held the ball up well. Granted his back heels don't always come off, but half the time it was because those around him weren't awake. Ninety minutes in the first X1 would at least show if he's beneficial or not. Give him a chance for me.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'd like to see Tuncay given a full game in the hole, which is barely different from the role Mavies has been playing.

Re: Tuncay
Tonight seems like a good opportunity to show at least the potential. Same for Pratley. And, er, that's about it.

I was delighted when we signed him but he's just like the others that pull on a Bolton shirt, touch of a rapist. I'm sure it's a requirement for anyone who plays for Bolton to lose all their ability in controlling a football, or never have it in the first place.
