Harry Kewell is pilayer. Sampions Lig. etc
We gave them Elmander just so they'd f*ck off.
Seemed to work.

On reflection it was probably a bit drastic, when Zulus could just have banned them.

According to the Daily Mail, we want Tom Lees, the Bury legend and current Leeds centre-back.

Well Christopher Samba has just handed in a transfer request
Doubt he would come to us though.

Tom Lees, Harry Kewell... and we've signed a few Dicks in our time...jmjhb wrote:According to the Daily Mail, we want Tom Lees, the Bury legend and current Leeds centre-back.
(Dick Pym being perhaps the best example)

Re: CH's all singing all dancing transfer gossip thread on t
Bolton News saying that Coyle is not sure that Ream will get International clearance. Why didn't they ask the question before going through the whole fee / wages etc rigmarole? Is it too complicated to ask" if we sign..... would he get clearance?", or am I missing something?

And how do you make enquiries?
To get a work permit, you'd have to fill in various forms, on these forms are things like earnings, medical history, how much you'll actually use him (playing minutes) etc.
How do you know any of this unless you see how good he is, see what kind of contract he's after and put him through a medical?

Depends what its failed on doesnt it.
If its something basic like he hasnt played in enough internaitonal games over the last two years then that really would be dumb.
But I really dont see how we couldnt have seen his medical history prior to this stage and also a likely indication of what he was looking to earn (although i dont see why that matters as he's not claiming from the state and the more he earns the more he puts back in through taxes).

As I understood it the only qualification was what percentage of his country's matches he'd played in over the last however long. What has the lenhgth of time he'll be used for or his medical history got to do with anything? I assume his salary would be enough so he won't need to claom the doleboltonboris wrote:And how do you make enquiries?

But to find out if he's played enough games, you'd have to fill out all the rest of the shite on the form. As daft as it sounds, getting anything signed off by a governmental department or getting any snippet of information, is nigh on impossible withoutm having to go through a load of crap firstohjimmyjimmy wrote:Depends what its failed on doesnt it.

There must be a guideline though, surely? I did read somewhere couple of weeks ago it was doubtful due to the internaitonal games he'd played (or notplayed) but that they were hopeful of getting it through even if only on appeal.
Not sounding good now though.

I'd wager a tenner had Arsenal carried through there interest in him last seaosn there would be no such work permit issues... to be fiar to Coyle he's just saying there is a possibility of him not getting the work permit, not saying he wont.
Professionalism, the last refuge of the talentless
Re: CH's all singing all dancing transfer gossip thread on t
We'll just get it through on appeal you'd think - he is in the national team set-up of a top 20 nation so could be deemed a player of promising enough quality.

Re: CH's all singing all dancing transfer gossip thread on t
He hasn't played enough international games...fact, and we knew it.
He will have to appeal for one.
If Coyle is saying "he's not sure he will get one on appeal" then thats pretty silly to say as its hardly strengthening our case of him being an outstanding talent (or whatever the words are to get it through appeal)...

Errr surely the following would suffice....boltonboris wrote:So should he say "He's definitely going to sign"??
"We are having to go through an appeal process to get the lad a work permit and we're doing everything we can to achieve that. He's an outstanding talent and I don't forsee any problems, but obviously until all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed nothing is certain"..
Anyways, having read it he says nowt wrong. Though why we're still not at the point of applying for the work permit is beyond me. We move so slowly its unreal.
We've known we were getting 7M for Cahill for a while, we should have the players lined up to come in, as we did when Anelka went, Taylor, bish, Steinsson, bash, Cahill bosh....
