Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
Remember my cousins neighbour who would've been about 6 at the time (he's now 17, bloody hell!) asking if he could have a go with his golf stick. Upon being informed it was a club, he asked if he could have a go with his golf club stick

In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Oh yeah, and also...
having had a terrific curry last night managed to squeeze out a stunning fart this morning under the sheets, leaving the missus dazed and groggy.

whilst it is not quite such a reason to be cheerful as Axman's anecdote above....
had my third funeral of the week today (6 so far in January...)
anyway - freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing today - but we had a piper - and quite a good one... cheered me up! (and he was colder than me!)
here he is!

Did he play that well-know favourite of all passers on, Amazing Grace?

Sorry Bruce, but this is one of the rare (very rare?) occasions I'm with thebish. The pipes and drums of the Black Watch playing The Black Bear at full bore is one of the most stirring and thrilling sounds on earth.

I'm not really into massed pipes... just the one piper makes a spine-tingly haunting impression across a foggy cemetery - mournful and moving...TANGODANCER wrote:Sorry Bruce, but this is one of the rare (very rare?) occasions I'm with thebish. pipes should definitely only be outside and a long way away... I once had a funeral where they had the piper INSIDE a small crem chapel - it was DEAFENINGLY awful!!!

Sorry Tango, I hadn't for a second realised that this lone racket-maker was actually replicating the pipes and drums of the Black Watch playing The Black Bear at full bore.TANGODANCER wrote:Sorry Bruce, but this is one of the rare (very rare?) occasions I'm with thebish. Re: Today I'm happy about......
Damn it, TANGO, I'll have to out and buy a black watch and retire my gold one. If nothing else such action would give me an excuse for my in-shower wailing.

Bloody hell - he's either got frost in his hat or they've been reduced to shooting old age bears.thebish wrote:whilst it is not quite such a reason to be cheerful as Axman's anecdote above....
