Re: Nat Lofthouse OBE Statue Confirmed
If I can contribute I will. I'd like to think I paid for a little bit of the statue.
Not the obvious bit.

Well, I hope they don't commission whoever it was that did that statue of Fred Scuttle in the town centre, or else visiting supporters will be thinking that Harry H Corbett once lifted the FA Cup for us!

Re: Nat Lofthouse OBE Statue Confirmed
All the statues of people long dead from the nineteenth century and before (e.g. Nelson, Alfred the Great, Florence Nightingale, Attila the Hun) look splendid. That's because nobody knows what they should look like.
Unfortunately, statues of the more recently deceased and living legends look quite shite, usually because they've been constructed by someone with a GCSE in metalwork and not the modern equivalent of Michelangelo, and because we have a prefixed idea that they should actually resemble the person they're supposed to depict.
Don't get your hopes up.

Put my change in the tub on the way into the ground today. Would be nice to know how much we've raised so far.

£5000 raised so far. Which is absolutely appalling in my opinion, considering we've had 2 home games since the fund was started.
The players haven't donated yet. No word on wether or not they will.

Can we have a collection on here for us lot?
I'd be willing to throw a few quid in the virtual bucket.

There's a link on the official website I think, in which you can pay into the fund.

Re: Nat Lofthouse OBE Statue Confirmed
It comes across as piss poor. If it is because the club want the fans to feel like they have paid for a people's statue for Bolton's number one son then they should be publicising it everywhere, because at the moment it looks cheap, and shoddy. There was a bloke in a lion costume (I think it was even the shit one, Lofty Jnr, that doesn't even look like a fecking lion) walking round Middlebrook shaking a bucket. So undignified. And if it is a case of the club being cheap, the likes of Davo want to be looking at themselves.
